11 years on July 11, and we just happen to be passing by sweet Overbrook House where it all happened 11 years ago today. I’m grateful for many things, but most of all for Charlie and for the family and life we have built together. We love looking through the photos and seeing these people that we still love so much, and telling the kids about this day where our family started.

And as always, grateful for the photos Allison Harp | Oregon Wedding Photographer took! Jack and Luke did their best getting a photo of the old married couple today too.

I remember the feeling of my dad’s face when he hadn’t shaved. He used to let me run my hand along the stubble of his cheek. It’s beautiful how children examine their parents.

They notice where you have hair, where you are softer or not, your clothes and jewelry - but never with judgment. It’s always with curiosity and delight.

“Your face feels fuzzy.”

“Daddy’s arms are hairy.”

“Mama’s earrings are sparkly.”

“Your hair is long.”

“Your face has little lines.”

Yes, little one. Keep looking and loving and noticing - and I hope keep that sweet delight.

Watching a kid become a big sister or brother is one of the most beautiful things.

They didn’t choose it. They may or may not have asked for it. And yet, here they are… suddenly connected to a new little human who is now their family.

This is a person who will share their home, their last name, their parents. It is a person to whom they will be able to say, “Dad is so embarrassing,” or “I need Mom’s lasagna,” to, and be completely understood. They’ll know each other’s stories, their quirks, their embarrassing moments. They’ll likely stand beside each other in life’s biggest milestones… maybe even at each other’s weddings.

It feels like getting to witness the very first page of a story that hasn’t been written yet.

And I love it so much.

This big sister and her little brother… what a beautiful beginning. 🤍

Ok so per my last post, the last [now] 10 months my brain apparently did not have capacity to do Instagram things. But we’re here now and there are sooooo many sweet sessions that deserve their own little squares (or 4:5??? Thanks insta??). So let’s kick things off with the Heidbrink family!

I have been photographing the Heidbrinks for 10+ years now. I captured their first ever family photos when they were brand new parents, and I’m so happy to watch their family grow. Their humor is consistently fantastic and their laughter is contagious. How lucky I am to get to watch them love each other!

Welp, I realized I haven’t posted on here in about 9 months... which coincidentally was days before we found out we were expecting another little Poe. 🤭 I guess my mind became occupied with other things…

On April 25th, the day after my birthday, we welcomed little Adalie Jayn Poe to our family - evicted at 36 weeks and perfect as can be.

When she came out, Charlie and I just started laughing as we realized the little baby we had been imagining was a girl! Our boys got the little sister they had been praying for and we got the healthy baby which is all we wanted.

Here’s to our newest adventure. 🤍 And now maybe I should post all of the beautiful sessions that happened these past 9 months too… 🤦‍♀️😅
