Another little tucked-away spot from my early morning session in the Black Hills. Just a few steps down from the previous one. Can't get enough of these calm, mossy banks. Sometimes you just have to lean in and let the quiet sink in.

Had a great time with this adorable girl out in Prescott! My favorite part of being a family photographer is getting to capture these memories for people—there’s nothing quite like freezing these moments in time before they grow up too fast. 📸✨

I got out early before everyone else was up and found this little gem tucked away in the Black Hills. There is nothing better than listening to creek water flow over the rocks with wildflowers flowing in the breeze. Nature has a way of slowing everything down — and sometimes that’s exactly what we need.

Come find your creek. 🤍

Happy 250th! Hope everyone found a great spot to celebrate with friends and family. For me, it’s hard to beat a view like this one. There is nothing quite like watching the sun dip below the horizon and seeing that golden light stretch across the water.
Where are you spend your holiday weekend?

Moondust -
Painted in moonlight and sprinkled with stardust. ✨🌙 There’s something magical about the way the world feels at midnight. Are you a night owl or a morning person?

I took these for a fried in a light sprinkle towards the end of the blue hour. The idea was to have a dark background so the focus was on the Clair, the horse and Kayla not shown here ;) . I will post the ones with Kayla in my portrait profile.

The shot - I used my Nikon Z810 paired with my Nikkor Z 50mm 1.2. I used a Godox 300 and soft box to add fill.

Vortex over Kartchner Caverns - This image is a single 30-minute exposure, centered on Polaris, creating a nearly perfect circular star-trail pattern above the hill that shelters the caverns.

A quiet desert night at Kartchner Caverns State Park gave me the perfect chance to capture one of my favorite subjects — the slow, graceful rotation of the Earth. I loved the idea of positioning Polaris directly over the caverns and I was happy when I found an angle to get that shot.

Have you stayed at Kartchner? I’d love to hear about your experience.

I’ve published a full write-up on my website, including images from inside the cave and tips for shooting both the desert environment and the caverns themselves.

This image is separate from the images taken from inside the cave because it is available as a print. The images from inside the cave can be enjoyed online from my Instagram or website blog. 😉

Sunset at Kartchner Caverns State Park
The campground at Karthner is a beautiful campground. There are many hiking trails for you to enjoy when you are not touring the cave.

Have you stayed at Kartchner? I’d love to hear about your experience.

I recently completed a photography project at Kartchner Caverns State Park, capturing everything from desert sunsets and night skies to the remarkable formations inside the caverns during a special photo tour.

Have you shot at Kartchner? I would love to hear about your experience.

I’ve published a full write-up including images, insights, and photography tips for shooting at Kartchner on my website.

Due to Instagram's limited ability to display different aspect rations I am posting my horizontal composed cave images separate from my vertically images. Look for my previous post to see the vertical images.
