Last weekend, I was able to sneak away to the Professional Photographers of Iowa Award Banquet and wear some sparkle (thanks Rochelle Van Zante McClellan ;-) It is an honor to compete among such amazing artists and friends, and fun to bring home some awards: an Iowa Top Ten Master Photographer, a 4x4 pin, First Place in Master's Men for a high school senior image, and Third Place in Master's Group for a corporate portrait project!

There were times I created portraits specifically for print competition. It was so demanding, and so detail oriented, that I needed extra time a client session didn't always afford. Through the years, the demand of competition continued improved my client work. The category winners this year are from my actual client sessions - and it reminds me of how far I've come because of this
