Erick, Oklahoma. We rolled into what felt like a ghost town, likely quiet due to the heat, but we stumbled upon the most charming little spot - the Sandhill Curiosity Shop! 🏪✨

We had the pleasure of meeting the wonderfully friendly owner, Harley Annabelle, who welcomed us with open arms as he was closing up for the day. He even invited us to explore his incredible Redneck Palace out back!  What a gem!  Anthony snapped some fantastic photos that I know will be the highlight of his upcoming book. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!

🚗✨ What an incredible day! Anthony conquered one of the toughest stretches of Route 66 today! I still can’t believe we drove the Sidewinder - a breathtaking 8-mile stretch packed with 191 curves and no guardrails. 🛣️😲

We were lucky to have a friend join us at the summit with his GMC truck, who generously offered to guide us. Honestly, I don’t think I would’ve attempted it otherwise! Here’s a snapshot of us at the top, braving the 100-degree heat! ☀️🔥

If Anthony's 1957 Ford "Betty" can handle this, I’m convinced she’s unstoppable! Our guide led the way, with Alex and me in the support vehicle, and Anthony driving behind with Alton Diamond as his copilot. Just imagine how intense it was for the passengers looking down at the cliffside! 😅 Alton has nerves of steel, while Alex was saying “make it stop” after every tight turn! 😂

What a once-in-a-lifetime experience! I don’t think we’ll be doing that again anytime soon! 🥳✌️

We were delighted to welcome Anthony Schmidt Photography to the Museum during Anthony's once-in-a-century journey across America's most iconic highway - Route 66! 🚗📸

Anthony’s remarkable adventure combines photography, classic cars, and a real cross-country drive, creating a unique perspective on America’s transportation heritage.

During his visit, it looked like our Chrysler Turbine Car was parked right beside Union Pacific Big Boy #4006—but look a little closer! The Turbine Car is actually a die-cast model. Anthony’s creative photography adds an entirely new dimension to the art of the photograph, blending imagination and reality in ways that make you stop and look twice.
