You guysss how have I not shared this wedding day yet?!

Kenton and Colleen’s dreamy wedding day was on an abnormally warm day in November, even for southern GA. Later on towards evening as the ceremony melted into the reception, it started raining lightly for a very cozy feel. ✨

Overall the whole day was pretty chill and serene and despite a few boutonniere difficulties (lol) the entire day went really smoothly! It was such an honor to be a part of this wonderful day 🤍

And this was the last wedding of 2023 for me (and the last for who knows how long 🥹) so that made it even more special.

Cheers to the new Mr and Mrs! 🎉

It’s with a heavy heart that I announce I am pushing pause and not booking any weddings or sessions for the 2024 to early 2025 season.

Honestly I should’ve made this post weeks ago, because so many of you have been inquiring 😭 but I was avoiding it because I can hardly believe it’s true!

I am moving to Lesvos, Greece in January 2024 for at least a year to serve at the Mavrovouni refugee camp. As some of you know, I’ve been there twice in the past and when I say my heart is there— that’s exactly what it feels like. For awhile now, I knew I had to go back for longer than three months. So I’ve been working on getting my visa and everything is starting to fall into place and as it becomes more and more of a reality, my heart is bursting with so much gratitude and excitement and nervousness and sadness and an overwhelming peace that this exactly what that I’m supposed to be doing. 🤍

This isn’t goodbye forever though (thank goodness, I really couldn’t stand that!) I’m taking my camera with me to Greece and fully expect to still be involved in photography as much as I can but more as creative outlet for myself, so it might look quite different! And of course, I am planning on coming back 🙂

At this point, I’m not sure exactly what I will be doing when I return or even when I will return (I’m buying a one way ticket 🫢) so please bear with me as I figure things out and I will keep you guys updated.

This decision hasn’t always been easy, but it feels like the one God wants me to take! Your prayers would be greatly appreciated in this time of busy preparation and goodbyes and integration.

Thank you so much to all of you have followed me and been my dear clients and friends over the years. I will miss you guys 🥹🤍

Jenson and Emma 🫶🏼

This beautiful engagement was extra special to me because Emma is one of my best friends and I’ve gotten to know Jenson as well through her and I can confidently say they are one the most solid couples I’ve ever known. Their love for God and other people is so evident in the way they live their lives and I’ve had the privilege of seeing that love in action many times! Can’t wait to see how God will use their marriage in His kingdom.

But also can we take a minute to appreciate how adorable they are together 🥹 several times during this session I caught this look in Jenson’s eyes that I’ve seen before in other guys on their wedding day or engagement sessions— that look of complete love and joy for their honey — and when I tell you my heart MELTED because that’s my FRIEND he’s looking at like that 😭 it was such a sweet moment and it made me super excited for them!!

Can’t wait for their wedding in MARCH 🎊

Kendra and Hudson ✨

Honestly could not have asked for a more perfect and beautiful day or a more precious couple 😍

From fog rolling in over this gorgeous meadow at their sunrise first look to sweet photos at the bride’s family home to the wild and fun bridal party and then the cutest bubble exit I’ve ever seen, this day was one to remember 🥹

Kendra and Hudson day was filled with so much laughter and bittersweet tears of joy that it left me even a bit teary-eyed 🫣 love like this is so so sweet and I’m reminded of how lucky I am to witness it every time I’m part of a wedding and as I edit thousands of pictures.

Goodness, I love my job 🤍

It was incredibly hard to pick favorites since I loved all of them 😅 but here’s a quick look back on that beautiful day!

Mr. and Mrs. Delagrange ✨

You guyssss. Arlan and Erica’s day was full of so much joy and laughter 🥹 almost all the photos I have of them one is laughing or smiling uncontrollably and after attempting a more serious pose (that they both couldn’t keep a straight face for) Erica says to me, “I’m sorry, I think I’m just going to be laughing the entire time!” 😂 sooo cute oh my goodness.

I am super honored I got to be a part of their special day and witness the beautiful joy of Jesus they shared on their wedding day. Thanks again to both of you 🤍

I was looking at my feed the other day and realized there’s a LOT of my work that I absolutely love but I’ve never posted 😅 so here’s to posting more of that even if it’s not current.

This is my dear friend Emma, by the sea :) I first met Emma in Greece in the fall of 2021. We served in mission work together for a total of 5 months and we’ve been friends ever since. As I was retouching these photos up, three words came to mind that describe her well.

Strong. Brave. Kind.

And I feel like you can see those traits in the photos we took that day 🤍 if you know Emma, you know a good one :)

But now I miss her and that’s a problem because she lives way too far away 😂 love you Emma Grace :)

Neil + Natalie

You guysss I can’t believe I haven’t posted this wedding from February yet! 🤩

A few days before the wedding, I started to get a little nervous looking at the weather. The chance of rain rose higher and higher until the morning of it was at 100% :(

But Natalie truly wasn’t a bit stressed about the weather. I remember her telling me “We have a back up plan but I really believe God’s gonna give us a good gift and we aren’t gonna have any rain.” Mm ok I think to myself.

The morning of the wedding, it was raining as I pulled up to the bride’s house for getting ready photos. I was fully prepared to get wet that day 😅

Would you believe we got through all the pictures without rain and as soon as we pulled up to the church for the ceremony, it started DUMPING rain. And it poured the entire ceremony. I looked at my second shooter and said “wellll there goes our sunset shoot after the wedding.” haha

But it cleared up again and we got some mad gorgeous moody shots at the pond afterwards! Natalie was right— God loves giving good gifts to his children 🤍

When Heidi contacted me and said she’d like a family photo shoot in a cotton field, I have to admit I was a little skeptical 😂 I wasn’t sure how we could do a family session on the side of a prickly cotton field without going into the field and still make it look good. Boy was I wrong beachside look at how DREAMY. I’m definitely gonna be doing more cotton field sessions in the future. I had so much fun with Nolan and Heidi and their adorable little family 🤍 thanks for letting me do your family pictures this year! It was a joy and honor :)

Breaking up the summer theme with a fun little shoot I did with my dear Emily (who genuinely loves winter) in the snow back in January ❄️

Every once in a while SC gets these beautiful deep snows and this was one of them. We had 8 inches (!!) of glorious powdery snow that stuck to everything and turned the countryside into a winter wonderland and we were gloriously snowed in for a few days.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s the fun part about snow in the south— time kinda stops. Nobody is expected to go to work but everyone climbs in their Jeeps and trucks and tractors and goes up the mountains to “see the snow”. All the little kids go out squealing and excited to make snowmen and snow angels until they’re wet and cold and then come back inside leaving a trail of wet clothes behind them and moms stand in warm kitchens making hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls and then they all go into the living room and put together a puzzle in front of a roaring fire. 💕

Ever wondered how photographers get that dark and moody look in their photos? Let’s talk about it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A big part of achieving that dark and moody look (and is often overlooked) happens during the shoot in camera. For me, I tend to underexpose just a little bit when shooting. This makes it possible to save my blacks and shadows later when I’m editing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ BONUS! A good rule of thumb to remember is always expose for your subjects face! This will save you a headache in editing later trust me :)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But most of the magic does happen in editing! I use Lightroom which allows me to control every aspect of light and color in a photo. Here’s how the process looks for me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
First I apply a preset. I use a very tweaked version of but you can use any good moody looking preset. Archipelago Presets have a few I’ve been eyeing myself like the classic LXCr or the Wayfarer pack. Look around and find your style!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Second, I’m gonna do some fine tuning. This will vary with every picture because each photo is different. In any given scenario, I’ll most likely adjust the exposure a little bit then my whites/darks and highlights/shadows all while striving for that true-to-life look but just a tad darker and warmer because that’s my personal style.

I’ll be the first to say I’m not ashamed I use presets because when I started using them, it really turned things around for me. I was able to create a uniform aesthetic that matched my personal style and was repeatable plus it makes editing SO MUCH FASTER. Aaand there’s nothing more fun than a new pack of presets to play around with :)
