I wanted to share some crummy old, but totally classic in my life, photos from 1977. For those of you who know me you might not recognize the young dude with the U-dub t-shirt and sporting dark hair and only one chin. Yup, believe it or not that's me! Next to me on that day (and on hundreds of days) was my best friend Clark Young.
He's struggling hard right now with a serious health issue and I just wanted to send him and his family some love. ❤️
I remember this moment in the kitchen very well actually. I set my Yashica Twin Lens Reflex camera up on the counter and hit the self-timer button. Then I hurried over and stood next to Clark. We were totally silent and didn't have a thing to say when suddenly we both busted out laughing for no reason whatsoever! That happened all the time with Clark. The second photo is of him hamming it up in the kitchen (he would just burst into our house at any time of day and go straight for the fridge saying hi to my family members along the way--they loved him!). And the last photo is of Clark skying for a dunk. We played basketball constantly. Oh, and by the way I think that was only a 7-foot hoop!🤣
Sadly, I lost touch with Clark after college and only saw him one other time and that was 25 years ago. So the moral of the story is this; if you have a friend who fills up your world with joy, laughter and silliness, hang on to them and stay in touch, even if it's sporadically. My wish for you is to never feel the hurt in your heart about a friendship lost to time. "I shoulda, I coulda but life got in the way". Well that's not a good reason. So pick up your phone or send an e-mail, or kick it old school and mail a letter and hopefully soon you will be taking a selfie again with a special friend. ❤️
All my love and prayers go out today to Clark and his "wunnerfull" family! ❤️
