Last week, I participated in the Missouri Photo Workshop. I’m still struggling with the words to encapsulate how this is the most valuable experience I’ve had thus far in my career, but I’ll try.
I spent seven days in a small, rural Missouri town called Maryville, where I was challenged to find and tell a visual story by the end of the week. On the last Saturday, the team behind the workshop worked relentlessly to print out our work and put it on display for the Maryville community.
I accomplished a million things I was proud of. I talked to strangers, I asked them to trust me, I got critiqued by some of the most influential voices in the industry. Despite how challenging this workshop was for me, I am so elated that I pushed myself through all of the aforementioned.
There are so many things about this experience that I’m thankful for. I’m beyond grateful to have been edited by two women whom I look up to, that my subject, Paige, let me so intimately into her life for a week and that I learned immensely from all the fellow photographers.
I cannot overstate how much this workshop will influence the rest of my career, and I can’t wait to see how I grow from it. 😊
