I’ve gotten a bunch of new faces on here, so hi! I’m Lanna J - PNW elopement + family/couples photographer. I can’t wait to get your beautiful face + love story in front of my camera! I quite literally spent all day on this, so hopefully it gives you a tiny bit of who I am as a human & photographer. I love all humans, and I take great care of all the diverse stories put in my hands. I’m training for adventure - so I can say YES to all possibilities in elopements. Helicopter through the mountains? Yes. Hike all the way up together? YES. I’m here for it. I want art without restriction & client experience with nothing less but professionalism. I’ve been in this circle for the last five years and not a day in my life has it ever been easy to be here, but it has always been worth it. Through every mountain I climb & beautiful couple I meet & every new photographer that continues in a beautiful journey after one of my elopement + education content retreats/days. It’s all amazing to see & be a part of every single day. If you’re ready to PARTY under the stars and through wild trails with your lover & you want beautiful images & experience through the entire wedding process - I’m accepting 2026-2027 adventure buddies & wedding couples! I offer free connection calls & I’d be happy to plan a day to chat and see if we vibe because that’s SO important for your day.

We’ll name our children Jackie & Wilson, raise em on Rhythm & Blues. Happy Valentine’s Day to my assistant, my future husband & the man I raise my child with. You are the laughter of our household, the firefighter putting out all my emotional fires, and the man I’m lucky enough to get through all the good and hard things in this world with. You took a broken heart that you never hurt & said it’s okay to not always be okay, I’ll love you anyway - because we both know what we have is special. We honor it - we hold it. & I know one day we’ll make it to the top of a mountain together and I’ll be wearing a pretty dress for you, my love. Here’s to being my first boyfriend - & somehow finding me in a completely different state over a decade later & making me falling in love with you all over again. Yep, even on the hard days. I will choose you. 🖤

- and a big happy Valentine’s Day to my couples this year, my couples last year + the ones who are sweet enough to tell me I’m doing a great job. It makes me so happy to know that my work is well loved -

I’m so grateful to be a photographer in Oregon. What a gorgeous home state to be in.

Would you be my valentine; even in space? 620 miles, a lot of trust in the universe - and I’d still hop on an aircraft with you, even in the middle of the forest.

Where is the Airplane Home In The Forest? Wanna go visit? It’s located in Hillsboro, OR & anyone can visit at any time right now! It’s free to go check out & it is SUCH a cool place to go hang with your lover, explore, enjoy a private forest area…. & book a couples photo date with me! I am looking for my next couple to come visit this space with me…. If you’re ready to go explore in the forest with your lover & see a cool airplane & get creative - Hit my lineeeeee, girl! When your girl asks you for pics with her —- she really means “come visit an airplane in the forest with me and my fave photographer.” & I am HERE for it! You can contact the owner, and he is very friendly and nice & loves having people visit the property! They even have a cute Knick-Knack free library for mental health & it was SO cute.

This photograph deserves to be seen, felt, and shared. No gallery attached - just how today’s session felt. Intimate. Vulnerable. Sacred. Open. It’s not everyday you walk around in a wedding dress with your love all over PDX & let your love story get celebrated - but today, Gracie & Shaun deserved just that. I felt so honored to take them to one of my favorite places & one of the first engagement session locations I ever found early on in my career. I got to re-create a shot I did 4 years ago, now as a solo photographer & it felt SO healing. I can’t wait to have these two dance in front of my camera over and over again.

“I’m scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw, I’m scared of what I did, of who I am, and most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.”

If you want to be a wedding photographer, it MUST include celebrating Black people, and not just when February comes around. & on top of that? You need to do it well, ethically, and with education… before you go capture a wedding.

There is so much that goes into being an excellent wedding photographer: technical skill, emotional awareness, storytelling, trust, artistry… and one of the strongest pillars of all is the ability to honor and document ALL kinds of love with intention and respect.

Celebrating and photographing diversity isn’t optional if you want to call yourself inclusive. It’s not something you do for applause or a repost. It’s something you commit to because weddings are sacred: and every couple deserves to be seen fully, beautifully, and truthfully.

Here’s your reminder to take continuous education around diversity and skin tone (especially when you’re first starting out) and to support as many black-owned wedding vendors as you can within your partnerships. Make sure you are showing up for diverse weddings. Make sure you know HOW to document them.

Happy Black History Month, everyone -

WHAT I AM DOING AS A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER DURING A TIME WHERE IT DOESN’T FEEL RIGHT TO KEEP MOVING AS BUSINESS AS USUAL (and a hug to all my vendors because this is a scary time & feeling like we live in such a scary time that our art can sometimes feel like a burden to showcase) I’m here and that is SUCH a hard feeling for an artist. While it’s a privilege to even be an artist working in the USA, I do understand that feeling and have been dealing with a lot of it myself) how can I post a wedding photo when a man was just brutally exiled in the middle of the street? & everytime I go to post something, I throw my phone down and get frozen again, call a friend, share my gallery privately - and the process continues over and over again. The process of figuring out how to show up in the last week has truly been uncomfortable for me (and most of us, I’m sure)

1. Take a few days per month to go document what is going on in your state. No matter where you are. Go to the protests. Go to the vigils. Bring your camera. Be silent if you want. But bring your camera and be ready. Because enough truthful photographs and videos will eventually diminish the lies we are being told.

2. CARRY A WHISTLE & honestly have some to hand out in your car. Give them to neighbors. Give them to strangers. Give them to storefront owners. Give your card to protesters & tell them they can call you to document when and if needed. I don’t have time to be super involved in my local protest scene, but I do know people who are & I will be “on-call” for them.

3. Showing up online in healthy ways, creating balance, and making sure my art is seen, but also making sure that I am showing up for my community in ways that I can and inspiring others to do when they can. All activism is good activism. I hate that we live in a world where people attack each other and other photographers for “not doing enough” or saying “it’s performative” because for most lower & middle class Americans, speaking out and voting is all we have. Let’s remember to be kind to one another & support the efforts we CAN MAKE. My focus will be to make sure my students & clients feel SAFE sharing their journey w/ me.
