It’s not often you get to photograph one of the creators, Billy Cormier, behind a legendary amusement park ride. Also, it was my first time photographing an indoor amusement park ride like this. Fifty years later, the Astrosphere at Funtown Splashtown USA is still a wild ride with a devoted following and what a blast this shoot was.

I wasn’t totally sure how I would approach capturing the photos. Inside the Astrosphere, it’s pitch black, with lasers, strobe lights, and otherworldly projections filling a concrete dome that encloses the space with a blasting soundtrack of “Fire on High” by ELO. I had a very limited area to work from while the Scrambler was in motion, so safety was definitely a consideration. In the end, I used a combination of a tripod and slow shutter speeds, along with some strobe, to hopefully capture and honor the experience as much as possible.

Honored to photograph Tim Pond Camps for Down East magazine’s September issue, the oldest continuously operating sporting lodge in the country. A pretty special piece of Maine history. This was an incredible few days at this remote camp. Can’t wait to return again to do some more fishing.

It’s not often you get to photograph one of the creators, Billy Cormier, behind a legendary amusement park ride. To be honest, it was my first time photographing an amusement park ride. Fifty years later, the Astrosphere at Funtown Splashtown USA is still a wild ride with a devoted following.

Feeling grateful to be a photographer and to have a front row seat to evenings like this. The White Mountains Secret Supper brought farmers, chefs, and friends together around a table at Locke Falls Farm, sharing food, stories, and the work behind it all. A portion of the proceeds supported Cultivate.

It was super fun chatting with guests who traveled from all over the country for the evening.

These are the kinds of gatherings I love documenting. Thanks to the entire Secret Supper team, and of course chefs Brent Foster and Amadeus.

I had a blast shooting these sunrise match day photos for Portland Hearts of Pine alongside Chris Theodores. I love it when two of my favorite worlds are brought together with photography. Thanks to Aaron and family from Rock and Sand Charters for fishing with Portland, Maine as the backdrop.

A true Maine classic.

I recently stopped by Portland Head Light while scouting for a few upcoming photography workshops. The light was nice but not out of this world, and I wasn’t looking for a new angle. It was simply a chance to spend some time with a camera in a place I’ve returned to over the years.

There’s value in that. Not every photo walk needs to result in a portfolio image or a new perspective. Sometimes revisiting a familiar place is enough. A few frames can be all it takes to reconnect with why you picked up a camera in the first place.
