9 YEARS MARRIED!
There were so many different things that could go wrong in our marriage, and if I were looking at someone else with a similar story, I’d be very skeptical of the whole endeavor. We got married very young. We didn’t have a wedding, just a court ceremony. Our parents weren’t there. And we tried our best not to take our wedding too seriously, at the end of the day it was just a paper, we thought. I wasn’t even 21 yet but the bartender at our local bar gave us a bottle of champagne for free. And we ended up at some club in DC later, spending the only $40 we had left for the entire celebration. I know of all the things that could’ve gone wrong, but I also know that at some point along the road, we decided to commit to working on ourselves and our relationship, to be more kind, more understanding, more loving, and most importantly to let each other be happy. It’s been an amazing ride and there’s something incredibly romantic about growing together from being immature wild teenagers to immature wild adults. The best part about spending this life together is that I have no idea what it will look like other than knowing it’ll be an adventure and I’ll love it all!
Should we do a vow renewal for our 10th anniversary? 🤘
