Iron & W**e (Iron & W**e) | Revolution Hall | 10/13/26

The Iron & W**e live experience has changed a lot over the 15ish years I’ve been seeing Sam Beam live, and the changes have been fascinating. The current flavor of Iron & W**e is lovely and easy-going: gentle, noodley, playful, and beautiful. With a backdrop that looked like an I Spy tableau, Beam and his band played a career-spanning set that was light on hits, but heavy on killer numbers. It was the type of night that made you ask, “Do I really need these earplugs?” I loved every second of it.

Magdalena Bay (Magdalena Bay) | All Things Go | Chrysalis Stage | 9/25/26

I have now seen Magdalena Bay on the Imaginal Mystery Tour five times across three calendar years, a real personal best for me. I hope this tour never ends, but I also can’t wait until Matt and Mica, these brilliant weirdos, make their next record and do this all again. I have so completely loved watching this tour grow and evolve since it began in 2024, and watching audiences fall in love with MagBay is what has kept me coming back.

I don’t know if I’ll see them again on this run, but having my personal finale being a set at All Things Go was the perfect ending for me. I hope it’s not, though: I’m comin’ up to the lobby, and I want more. 🎸🎸

Less than 72 hours after the release of her phenomenal new record, Popstar, nasty Nashe and her excellent gaggle of dancers crushed the pavilion Stage at All Things Go. She was so, so damn infectious, and watching her devote the back chunk of her set to manning the DJ table set up at the back of the stage was a killer reminder of what a powerhouse Tinashe is. Also, she did “Link Up,” and I’ve had it LODGED in my head ever since.

I flew almost 3,000 miles and still ended up watching my hometown’s best musician doing a set. Ravensdale, WA has basically nobody in it, so Brandi Carlile had to be talented and famous enough for the rest of us. Maybe she’s the least “hip” headliner All Things Go (compared to Mitski and Hayley Williams), but she is still a damn SHOWMAN, magnetic and charming and so damn funny. What a delight to end the festival with the final boss of hot blonde mommy le****ns who always seem a little stoned. MY TYPE!!!

I'm sorry, CMAT, I wasn't privy to your game. I liked Euro-Country when I heard it, but it wasn't until watching her utterly annihilate The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station that I got it. This woman is a powerhouse, and the fact that she's only 30 makes me sick. What a goddamn knockout. To quote Brandi Carlisle, who brought her out to sing “I’d Want U,” “I can't get enough of this woman!”

Ethel Cain (𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐢𝐧) | All Things Go | Pavilion Stage | 9/25/26

I'll never shut up about how it felt seeing Ethel Cain for the first time, at Mississippi Studios in 2022. The energy was unreal, and the girls dressed like nuns and Quakers in the front row clasping hands with her as she sang songs from Preacher’s Daughter gave me shivers. I've manages to see her playing to a bigger crowd every single time I've seen her since (This Aint No Picnic, then Pioneer Courthouse Square, then Edgefield, and finally here at Merriweather). The pride I feel watching a young, brilliant trans woman commanding audiences this big leaves me speechless. The fact that she opened with American Teenager and Nettles felt like she did it for me.

I loved every second of this set. Truly a monumental ending to the Willoughby Tucker tour. If you saw me crying in the photo pit, no you didn't.

Slayyyter (SLAYYYTER) | All Things Go | Chrysalis Stage | 9/25/26

I didn't go to All Things Go to see Slayyyter, but I did go to All Things Go because they book acts like Slayyyter. I am forever late to the pop party, and I finally clicked with WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA while I was doing festival line-up prep. I missed her show in Portland to go to Bumbershoot, and knowing what I know now, I would have sacrificed Turnstile to the altar of the BEAT UP CHANEL$ in a heartbeat.

This woman is astounding. I don't know if these photos do her justice, she is an act you gotta see to believe. Pray you can see her before she sells out arenas in a year or two.

ALL THINGS GO DC (All Things Go) | Merriweather Post Pavilion | 9/25-27/26

Okay… deep breath. I'm finally done editing the mondo collection of photos I took at all Things Go. I won't beat around the bush: I absolutely loved this festival. I loved the acts, I loved the crowds, I loved Merriweather Post Pavilion, I loved the people I got to shoot with for three days, rain and shine. If next year is anything like this year, I may have found my new favorite festival, joining Pickathon and Kilby Block Party at the top of the mountain.

I hope you enjoy what I got!

This is only a taste of everything. There will be more, as long as I can stop myself from feeling too precious about just how much I got and loved.
