What if your family photos felt like a little adventure through the city? ✨

Introducing Moments in the City, a monthly portrait series inspired by color, place, personality, and the beauty hiding in everyday spaces.

The idea grew from years of exploring and traveling with my daughters. I was always noticing something:

A colorful wall.
An interesting doorway.
A graphic staircase.
Beautiful pockets of light.
A corner we simply HAD to stop and photograph.

Those quick portraits became some of my favorite photographs of my girls, and I wanted to bring that same sense of discovery to other families.

Each month, I'll choose one Portland location and create a completely different portrait experience around it.

📸 10–15 relaxed minutes
🎨 A thoughtfully selected location + creative concept
💛 Plenty of personality
🏙️ Portland as our backdrop
✨ A curated gallery of intentional portraits

Come once for a location you love, or join me throughout the year and create a collection documenting your family exploring the city through different seasons.

Because childhood changes.
The city changes.
And that's exactly what makes these moments worth capturing.

The locations will be announced to my email subscribers first, and these sessions will have very limited availability. If you'd like first access to each month's location before it's shared anywhere else, be sure to join my newsletter.

I can't wait to explore Portland with you. 🏙️📸

What if school picture day didn't have to mean stiff smiles and awkward poses? 💛

When I think back to my own school photos, I remember being told exactly how to sit, where to put my chin, and when to smile.

The result? A photo that looked... fine.

But it didn't really look like me.

That's exactly why I approach modern school portraits differently.

I want your child to feel comfortable enough to laugh if they're feeling silly. To give me a thoughtful expression if that's more their personality. To know they don't have to force a smile just because there's a camera in front of them.

Picture day should be fun, not stressful.

A few simple ways you can help set your child up for a great picture day:
✨ Pick out their outfit the night before (solid colors photograph beautifully!)
✨ Give their face a good clean and hair a nice styling before school.
✨ Let them know they don't have to force a smile. Being themselves and being relaxed is more than enough.
✨ Tell them the photographer is pretty silly and loves to make kids laugh.
✨ Remind them that picture day is about having fun, not being perfect.

With a simple backdrop, a few jokes, and plenty of conversation, my goal is to create portraits that capture who your child really is in this season of life.

The missing front teeth.
The contagious giggle.
The shy smile.
The confident grin.

Those are the details you'll want to remember years from now.

Because the best school portraits aren't about perfection.

They're about personality. 📸✨

One of my favorite parts of Modern School Portraits?

The sibling photos. 💛

Sure, the individual portraits are beautiful...

But there's something extra special about capturing the relationship between siblings.

The way they laugh together.
The inside jokes.
The big hugs.
The "I'm pretending to be annoyed, but I actually adore you" smiles.

These aren't stiff, perfectly posed sibling portraits.

In just 5–10 minutes, I'll chat with your kids, ask them funny questions about each other, and create space for their personalities and connection to naturally shine through.

The result is a collection of images that captures not just what your children looked like this year, but what it felt like to watch them grow up together.

Even better? These sibling portraits coordinate beautifully with each child's individual Modern School Portrait, making it easy to create a timeless gallery wall you'll love for years to come (and grandparents will absolutely treasure!).

✨ Don't forget to add a sibling session when you book your Modern School Portraits. Trust me, these are the photos you'll never regret having.

📚✨ Missed your school's picture day? Want a school portrait experience that's a little more... you?

I'm excited to announce Modern School Portrait Pop-Up Days at my home studio!

The first date is Friday, August 22nd, with more dates coming throughout the school year.

These sessions are perfect if:
🍎 Your school doesn't offer Modern School Portraits 🍎 Your student no longer attends a school I serve
🍎 Your child was absent on picture day
🍎 You'd love updated portraits in a relaxed, fun environment
🍎 You simply want portraits you'll be excited to frame every year 🍎 You'd like modern portraits of your kids together
These aren't your average school photos.

Your child will enjoy a quick, stress-free session where they can simply be themselves. No forced "cheese" smiles. No awkward posing. Just genuine expressions and personality shining through.

Each session includes a gallery of images featuring multiple expressions in both vertical and horizontal orientations, with both color and black & white versions available to purchase.

The result? School portraits you'll actually want to hang on your walls, gift to grandparents, and look forward to updating year after year.

✨ The first Pop-Up Portrait Day is August 22nd, and space is limited. Reserve your spot now, and keep an eye out for additional dates coming soon!

One day your kids won’t remember every summer.

But they’ll remember pieces.

The berry juice on their hands.
The bike rides.
The sprinkler games.
The library trips.
The way summer felt.

Photos help keep those pieces alive. 💛

Fall gets all the attention for family photos… but summer deserves more love. 👀

Longer days.
Golden evenings.
No rain reschedules.
No jackets.
No rushing.

And before you know it? Fall calendars will be packed.

If summer photos have been on your mind, now is the time. ☀️

Reminder: your home in summer is part of your story too.

Pajamas at breakfast.
Reading books by open windows.
Making popsicles in the kitchen.
Building blanket forts to escape the heat.

In-home sessions aren’t just for newborns.

They’re for documenting the real rhythm of your family, exactly as it is.

Summer family sessions feel different.

The pace is slower.
The light is softer.
The schedules are a little looser.

There’s less rushing from school pickup to sports to dinner.

That breathing room makes space for connection—and connection always photographs beautifully. 💛
