Summer just has a different kind of energy—slower mornings, longer evenings, and more space to actually enjoy being together.

It’s also one of my favorite times for family photos, and I shared exactly why in my blog post Summer Photo Sessions Are The Best, Here’s Why.

From that beautiful golden light we only get in summer, to the relaxed pace that makes sessions feel easier and more natural… there are so many reasons this season just works for photos.

If you’ve been thinking about booking a session, this is a great place to start.

✨ I walk through 5 reasons summer might be the perfect fit for your family—and why the images feel so timeless this time of year.

If you want photos that feel natural, fun, and like your family… location matters more than you think.

Here are 5 more of my favorite summer spots around Portland:

🌲 Hoyt Arboretum – beautiful trails + nature right in the city
🍦 Local Ice Cream Shops – candid, joyful, and a built-in reward
🏡 Pittock Mansion – stunning views + open space to explore
🎨 Alberta Arts District – colorful murals + creative energy
🌳 Urban Parks – easy, playful, and perfect for little ones

The goal isn’t just pretty photos—it’s creating moments your family actually enjoys being part of.

Because those are the images you’ll treasure most.

What if your child came home this summer saying…

“I feel like a real photographer.”

That’s what happens at Discovering Digital Photography Camp.

This isn’t just a camp where kids and teens play with cameras.
It’s a structured, creative experience where they learn real skills like:
→ Working in manual mode
→ Understanding light + composition
→ Exploring color and storytelling
→ Caring for DSLR cameras responsibly

And underneath all of that?

Confidence. Creativity. Problem-solving. Independence.

We’re already 70% full for both 2026 sessions, and spots continue to go quickly every year.

📍 Portland area (NW/SW near Hoyt Arboretum)
📅 July 13–17 OR July 20–24
💲 $365

If your child is curious, creative, or loves exploring… this is for them.

Here’s why I love summer sessions (and why my clients do too):

☀️ Longer evenings = that dreamy golden light without rushing
👕 No coats or layers = relaxed, natural movement
📅 Fewer school commitments = easier scheduling
🌿 So many beautiful locations = beaches, parks, city streets, and everything in between

But my favorite part?

Summer sessions don’t feel like “photo sessions.”
They feel like experiences.

Running on the beach.
Picking berries.
Getting ice cream.
Exploring new places together.

The result? Photos that don’t just look beautiful—they feel like your real life.

Because years from now, it’s not just about how everyone looked…
It’s about remembering what this season of life actually felt like.

If summer has been on your mind for photos, this is your sign. Read about my favorite locations for summer sessions on the blog! 🤍

The days feel long sometimes… but the seasons move fast.

And I know how easy it is to keep putting photos off—waiting for the “right” time.

That’s why I’m working on something special:
A monthly, limited session series to help you capture your family as you are right now.

Simple, intentional sessions
Beautiful, hand-picked locations
Moments that feel real—not rushed or posed

These will be released quietly to my email list first… and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

If you’ve been thinking, “we should really do photos this year…”
This is your nudge.

Join the email list so you don’t miss it ✨

Kids don’t just need activities in the summer.

They need experiences that change how they see themselves.

At Discovering Digital Photography Camp, something really special happens:

A shy kid picks up a camera… and starts leading their own creative choices.
A curious kid realizes they can tell stories visually.
A confident kid discovers a new way to express themselves.

It’s photography—but it’s also so much more than that.

We teach:
📷 Camera skills + manual shooting
🎨 Composition, color, and storytelling
🌿 Creative thinking through real-world exploration
💡 Confidence through hands-on learning

And right now, we’re already 60% booked for both summer sessions.

Which means spots are becoming limited.

📅 July 13–17 OR July 20–24
💲 $365

If you’ve been thinking about it… this is your sign to take a closer look.

🌹 Rose Test Garden – soft color, beautiful blooms, and peaceful walks
🌉 Portland Riverfront + Bridges – iconic views with an urban feel
🌿 Cathedral Park – stunning architecture + wide open green space
🍓 Sauvie Island – berry picking, beaches, and summer magic

The best part? These aren’t just “photo locations”… they’re experiences your family will actually enjoy.

And when your kids are having fun, that’s when the magic happens ✨

We’re already 70% booked for Kids Photography Camp this summer 📸✨

And I just have to say—this is one of my favorite programs I run all year.

Because in just one week, kids don’t just “take photos”…
they become photographers.

They learn:
📷 Manual mode + how a camera actually works
🎨 Composition + color (real creative foundations)
🌿 How to slow down and see the world differently
💡 STEAM-based skills they’ll carry far beyond camp

It’s hands-on, outdoors, creative, and honestly… so much fun.

And parents always tell me the same thing:
“My child came home more confident.”

If you’ve been thinking about it, now is the time—spots are filling quickly for both July sessions.

📅 July 13–17 OR July 20–24
💲 $365
