It was one of those unusually hot days in the city, but the moment we arrived at Cannon Beach, everything slowed down. The temperature was perfect, the ocean breeze was soft, the waves were splashing at our feet, and the sky turned into the prettiest shades of pink and cotton candy as the sun disappeared behind the Oregon Coast.

And to make it even more special, I got to photograph someone who has been part of my life for nearly 20 years.

This beautiful human is my hairdresser, and if you’ve ever complimented my hair, there’s a good chance she’s the reason why. ✨

Getting to photograph people you know and care about is always an honor, but it means even more when they trust you to step behind the camera and tell their story.

She looked absolutely stunning, the beach showed off, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect Oregon Coast evening.

These are the kinds of nights that remind me why I love what I do.

We were supposed to go camping, then the weather called for thunderstorms, hail, snow, and low 40’s as the high.

So, we opted to go to this cute A frame at Mt Hood.

I’m glad it rained :)

I’m not the cheapest photographer in Portland or Palm Springs… and that’s actually in your favor.

Because you’re not just paying for photos.

Currently at the Oregon Coast with a bunch of local photographers, eating homemade meals, passing around chocolate, sipping wine, talking business, editing photos, and probably laughing a little too loud.

It’s one of my favorite things about this job… getting to create, connect, and then step outside into this dreamy coastal air and immediately feel inspired all over again.

The Oregon coast is one of my most popular locations and one of my absolute favs!!

These sessions always end up feeling more like a memory than a photoshoot, and that’s exactly the point.

Anyone else hanging on by a thread?

Between ball, field trips (why do it all at the end of I year I ask!?), performances, and juggling a full time business is nuts.

My dad turned 85 today, my niece is having her second baby, and we lost one of our fur babies. It’s been so many up and downs this month, but I’m so glad I love my job, the community I have here with other local photogs, and my family.

How are you hanging in there? I’m back to the coffee drive through for now.

These sessions tend to feel like a mix of maternity and family without needing to separate the two… especially with a little one. It usually looks like exploring, picking up sticks, and coming back in for a quick snuggle.

As a Portland maternity photographer, I’m really intentional about location so it all feels natural and not rushed.

I also offer family films..simple, but something families end up loving more than they expect.

The heart behind your photographer matters more than you think.

I had a couple once, on vacation with their 10-week-old baby.
And I remember thinking… wow. Because I was not that put together as a new mom.

I asked them something most people don’t say out loud…
“Are you grieving your old life a little bit?”

They both said yes.

So I took their baby, held him close while he slept on me… and gave them a moment to just be them again.
To laugh, to run on the beach, to remember what it felt like before.

And they got photos of that version of themselves too.

Because two things can be true at once, you can love your baby deeply… and still miss who you were before.

That doesn’t make you a bad parent.
It makes you human.

This is why who you hire matters.
It’s not just about the photos, it’s about how you’re seen in the moment.
