Did you know school photography became one of the most sustainable parts of my photography business? 📸✨

I shared more about that journey on the Photo Fuel Podcast with Leah O’Connell—including how creative offers like:
→ modern school portraits
→ kids photography camps
→ education for photographers
→ seasonal offerings

can work together to support a business in a really intentional way.

We also talked about:
💻 systems + outsourcing
📚 teaching photography
🎨 helping photographers “see” differently
📈 scaling without burning out

This conversation is full of practical ideas for photographers who want to build a business that feels creative, sustainable, and aligned with real life.

Sometimes building a photography business feels less like a straight line and more like rebuilding yourself over and over again. 💛

There have been seasons in my life where betting on myself felt exciting.
And there have been seasons where it felt absolutely terrifying.

But one thing I’ve learned is this:
You do not need certainty before taking the next step.

You can:
✨ build slowly
✨ pivot when needed
✨ create new income streams
✨ ask for help
✨ learn business skills
✨ become more resilient over time

Photography businesses are not built in perfect conditions. They’re built in real life.

And often, the most sustainable businesses come from photographers who learn how to adapt creatively—not just behind the camera, but in the way they design their lives and work. 📸

Photographers: if you’ve ever looked at your work and thought,
“Something feels… missing?” 👀

Not bad.
Not terrible.
Just not quite as powerful, cohesive, or intentional as you want it to feel.

Most of the time, it’s not your gear holding you back.

It’s often composition and color.

Those are the skills that transform:
✨ ordinary locations into beautiful backdrops
✨ clutter into clarity
✨ snapshots into storytelling

Inside my course Composition & Color, I teach photographers how to build a creative toolbox that helps their images finally feel like them.

Because yes—you ARE a real photographer. 💛

ometimes all it takes is one conversation with the right mentor to completely change your trajectory as a photographer. 📷✨

My photography mentorships are designed to feel:
💛 encouraging
💛 collaborative
💛 practical
💛 creatively energizing

We can focus on:
→ refining your portfolio
→ building confidence shooting with kids + families
→ composition + color
→ editing workflows
→ posing + client interaction
→ creating a photography business that actually works for your life

Because growth doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or lonely.

And honestly? Sometimes photographers don’t need more tutorials… they just need someone to help them trust their eye and move forward with confidence. ✨

Photographers: one of the easiest ways to improve your compositions?

Move your body. 👀📸

Seriously.

Take two steps left.
Get lower.
Shoot through something.
Back up farther than feels comfortable.
Change your perspective before changing your lens.

So often, the difference between a “nice” image and one that feels dynamic, emotional, and layered comes down to how intentionally you move through a space.

This is especially true for newborn and family photography, where the environment, connection, and movement all become part of the story.

And here’s something else I always encourage photographers to do:
Look for patterns in your own work.

Which images feel the most you?
What compositions do you naturally gravitate toward?
What kinds of framing, color, or movement consistently show up?

That awareness is often the beginning of discovering your signature style. ✨

Photographers: your model calls should be building your business… not draining your energy. 👀

If your past model calls have felt:
❌ chaotic
❌ disorganized
❌ full of ghosting
❌ unclear on what to offer
❌ beautiful but not actually profitable

…you are not alone.

That’s exactly why I created Profitable Model Calls Made Easy.

Inside the course, I walk you through my proven framework to:
✨ plan a strategic model call
✨ attract the RIGHT participants
✨ create on-brand portfolio images
✨ turn model calls into paying clients

Because yes—a model call can absolutely lead to real income.

(Just ask Amanda, who made a $300 sale + booked two full-price sessions using this system. 🙌)

You can go from setup to successful launch in one weekend. 💛

Throwing it back to one of my favorite podcast conversations 🎙️✨

I joined Nicole Begley on the Freedom Focus Podcast to chat about:
📸 color + composition
📸 building a sustainable photography business
📸 diversifying income streams
📸 overcoming creative blocks
📸 balancing business, creativity, and family life

One of my favorite parts of the conversation was talking about how creativity doesn’t stop at the camera. Designing a photography business that actually supports your life can be just as creative as making the images themselves.

We also talked about:
→ seasonal income streams
→ photography education
→ school portraits + family photography
→ growing intentionally instead of chasing burnout

If you’re a photographer looking for encouragement, creative inspiration, or practical business ideas, this episode is packed with goodness. 💛

Most photographers don’t need more tutorials.
They need someone to look at their work and say, “Here’s what’s working—and here’s how to make it better.”

That’s exactly what happens inside my 1:1 Photography Mentorships.

This isn’t about generic advice or surface-level feedback.
It’s about real conversations, honest insight, and personalized guidance based on your goals.

Together, we can:
→ Refine your portfolio so it attracts the right clients
→ Break down your editing and shooting in real time
→ Build confidence in your decisions behind the camera
→ Create a clear path forward (no more second-guessing)

Because growth doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from doing things with intention.

If you’re ready for that kind of support, start with a free discovery call.

Let’s figure out what’s next—together.

If your model calls feel chaotic, underwhelming, or just… not worth it—this is for you.

Because let’s be honest:
You’re putting in the time
You’re giving away sessions
And the results still aren’t matching the effort

The missing piece? A clear plan.

Profitable Model Calls gives you a step-by-step system to:
✔️ Plan your model call in under an hour
✔️ Attract the right people (not just anyone who applies)
✔️ Create strong, cohesive images for your portfolio
✔️ Turn those sessions into real income

No more guessing. No more “hope this works.”

Just a straightforward way to build your portfolio and your business at the same time.

Start your next model call the right way — $40

Ever feel like…

✔️ You know your photos could be better—but you don’t know what’s missing
✔️ You freeze up in new locations
✔️ Your work feels inconsistent, no matter how hard you try

That doesn’t mean you’re not talented.
It means no one ever taught you the why behind great photos.

Composition & Color for Photographers breaks it all down in a way that finally clicks:
→ Bite-sized lessons
→ Real shoot demos
→ Editing walkthroughs
→ Tools you can use immediately

This is where confidence comes from—not guessing, but understanding.

Turn ordinary moments into standout images.
