Here's my version of fireworks for the 4th of July!

I met up with the night before a crazy week long workshop where we drove over 2K miles in one week all over Oregon and Washington chasing weather. The first night was the best light though, where we managed to hit epic rain and thunderstorms that just lit up at sunset over the desert playa. We very nearly were trapped though, as the storm moved directly over our escape route!

This is a 3 image stack with the sky and the foreground pictures taken just feet and minutes from each other.

I've lived in Portland for over 10 years, but this was my first time out to see the balsamroot blooms in the Columbia Gorge. For the camera nerds: thanks to the crazy dynamic range of my new camera, this is actually a single 14mm shot, processed only in lightroom. it would't stand up to large printing, but I liked it enough that I want to try it out online!

Found these Beautiful yellow flower among the sagebrush near our campsite in central Oregon. Drove 5+ hours to central to eat giant steak at Cowboy Dinner Tree. Look it up, it's worth the drive!

Went on a short trip up the gorge with some friends recently. Felt great to get back out there! Spent some time playing around with this image in the back seat of a long car ride, and although I love pictures that feel like a painting, i may have gone overboard with this one. What do you think!?!?

Two completely different takes on the same waterfall scene taken this last weekend. I'm not sure which one I like better, I would love for some input on which one you like more, and why!

Another shot from my recent trip to Silver Falls. I have been sitting on this tweaking it little by little, and I am sure not convinced it's done. Figured I would throw it out to the world anyway!

I really wanted to go do some photography the weekend of my birthday, so I had been keeping an eye on the weather forecast. It looked like White River on Mt.Hood could get some really good light on Saturday morning, since there was going to be clearing clouds right at sunrise! I got up at 5 am after 3 hours of sleep, and kicked it up to the mountain, where I was greeted with a thick cloud bank. I spent my time scouting foregrounds anyway, and as sunrise hit I could see the mountain glowing bright red behind the fog, with no compositions showing themselves to me. Luckily though, on my hike back to the car the fog bank started to clear and the rising sun created some beautifully lit fog and tree scenes! Although not the shot I went up for, I am still really happy with how this this image turned out! :-)

Though my morning search for freshly snow covered ponderosas was a complete bust this weekend, I did get a chance to enjoy a 6 (not 3 like the guidebook says) mile hike through snow and slush to check out Tumalo falls with some new and old friends!

Hey everyone! These are some of my favorite images I decided to publish on my newly redesigned website (link below). I'm finally getting around to publishing these, which I've been procrastinating posting because I have trouble deciding when an image is "finished". Sooo, I decided to just get it over with and get them out there :). 2018 is looking to be a fun year for me in both travel and photography, so stay tuned as I attempt to keep up my editing and publishing with my shooting.

Feel free to check out my recently updated website!
