I am so grateful that I was able to spend sometime at a dear friend’s cabin which is off the grid and did not have electricity. I think of it as the Little House in the Woods. It was soothing to not have to the internet, although I did sometimes wonder what scary things were happening in the world unbeknownst to me. One of many highlights of the experience were the hikes in the Trapper Creek Wilderness and hugging old growth trees.

After photographing these bottles I have had plenty of time to sample each one. I truly can not pick a favorite. The gins are outstanding, and the rye bottle is empty ! When they reach your local Oregon liquor store I would encourage you to pick up a bottle or 2, or 3.

I have not been posting much recently as I have withdrawn for obvious reasons. The world is a scary place ! Anyway I am diving back into making cyanotypes and this is my most recent one. The original image was taken years ago in London with my iPhone 6! I made a digital negative and used that to contact print on arches watercolor paper.

Ford Cove on Hornsby Island. The calm between storms. We were at Fred Cove on Hornsby Island last month and recently

we moored here again to be safely tucked in from the storm on our slow return to Sitka’s (she hasn’t been officially remained) new home in Tacoma. I love the carved out sandy shore here.

Over the last few years I have not been hiking or taking walks as much as I used to. But on this sailing trip to the Gulf Islands, I have been taking lovely long solo meditative walks on the various islands we have visited. I am embracing the season.

I took a walk across Jedediah Island and was rewarded with this view that took my breath away. There also was an abandoned homestead along with some very wooly feral sheep. Unfortunately they were quite shy about having their photo taken. And I was able to get a photo of our floating home in this gorgeous location. Her current name is Ayomide, but we are trying to come up with a new one. So far we are considering Sitka, Salishan, and Qualicum.
