Counting down to less than 3 weeks to go with these two gorgeous humans get married! I am so sorry about how overdue I am in sharing because it has been an absolute disservice to the universe that I have not posted these until now.

When I got Michael’s text confirming that they had chosen me as their photographer, I was quite literally sobbing in the bathroom (maybe or maybe not while I had business in there) ✌🏼🥹 —which makes me sound desperate, and but…f**k it? I really wanted to work with Michael & Gabe!

This friends-to-lovers trope developed under such a beautiful awakening between the two. I could not be more honored to capture your love. Even just with me, from our first meeting to our first session, I have seen so much blossoming! October, here we come!

A gorgeous sunset over this sweet, kind and gorgeous couple Chelsea & Keala. I could not be more grateful that I get to spend their wedding day with them, too! 🤍 So much sweetness, kindness and generosity.

(Also, peep that stunning oval cut ring on slide 3. When we met at a café in Vancouver, Washington, I snatched her hand and had to gawk in awe of its sparkle! 11/10, Keala.)

If my last post was a soft launch of me moving to Oregon, this gorgeous snowy mountain with these two adorable humans is definitely the hard launch.

Eloping is all about 𝐲𝐨𝐮 and what 𝐲𝐨𝐮 want from your experience. Shauna & John kept it simple and sweet, and checked off the boxes for what was essential for them to be excited about their day. A belated congratulations to these two for being so adventurous and fun with me on this amazing and clear winter day!

Shoutout to E for also being the cutest participant!

Your wedding, elopement, whatever name you give to your celebration—should never be about or for others.

Jamie & Alex are oh so darling, and I could not have asked for a better first session in the Pacific Northwest than with these two.

Jamie had reached out to me thinking I was still in Hawaii but I had already moved here to Oregon! Turns out they were in Seattle, so my partner and I treated ourselves to a day trip 3 hours upstate and we got to experience the beautiful Bellevue Botanical Gardens together.

And now, of course, I get to fly home next year to photograph these two again for their special day! Thanking the universe for guiding this couple my way 💕

Breaking 6 months of silence because I still love what I do, and I can’t believe I have all these photos to share?!

So eternally grateful I got to be on this boat adventure with Lauren & Hue for their newlywed night-after with their gang despite ya girl getting mad seasick 😵‍💫 but you better believe I still had a blast! (The photos speak for themselves) Lauren had a ✨vision✨ and her loved ones did not kill the vibe. They slayed it.

🫶🏼 Visionaries, come find me!

Also, peep slide two of Lauren absolutely soaking me and .co in champagne 🍾 (it was worth it)

“Sometimes, it’s just a vision.” You will likely hear me say this at least once. Not every pose is perfect, not every pose is going to be how you pictured it in your head. Sometimes, it’s just a vision.

But sometimes it’s even better. Like when Lauren was all genuine giggles while Seth spun her, and then her veil just gobbled up his face. Which made us all laugh even more.

Moments like these and when your bride still looks stunning while crying, I treasure.

So cute and fun working with these two lovebirds and learning my flash!

I loved working with Michelle & Bilal so much for more than just their collaboration with me. What I loved most was that this shoot Les to me learning about Michelle’s running for Ms. Kapolei, her goals in school and community, and the love and support she receives from Bilal, who just as impressively co-owns a jiu-jitsu school—like what!!?

Their beauty flows from them, from inside-out. So thankful I get to cross paths and connect with so many people and their stories.

I have so much love for Maui. It is a place of fond memory for me, where my friends gathered, where strawberries were picked on the roadside, foggy mountains are inviting, and people are kind. Though secular, I hope we gather now with Maui on our minds with prayers, donations, or even a share of this ongoing fundraiser to fuel the rebuild of this beautiful piece of ‘āina.

Check in on your friends and ‘ohana on Maui, and those you know who have them. Share your support by letting them know you’re there. Now is the time to close gaps of division and difference, and rally together.

May Maui flourish and thrive as it once has, and may we cherish our memories of it throughout their journey of new growth.

我是中國人。 I am so proud of the richness of my culture in traditions, art, music, architecture and innovation. (Less proud of its politics) This flatlay was simple but elegant and so full of character. Loved being thoughtful about this arrangement.

🧧 Red envelopes (lai see) are traditional monetary gifts during celebratory events like birthdays, holidays, especially Chinese New Year but even to wish people a safe trip or journey. I wish I grew up without access to them, so they’d be in a fat savings account now..
🧧 Hairpins were historically worn by women when they were “of age,” and eligible for marriage. Single and married women used to be differentiated by whether their hair was up (married) or down (single).
🧧 Gold jewelry is a common gift from mothers to the feminine counterpart of the couple. Their gifts represent a message to say that “(they) are the most precious person in the family.”

A lot of Chinese traditions are dated and could use language adjustment. While always sweet to see from new in-laws especially, I hope one day soon these traditions move toward inclusivity regardless of sexual and gender identity. And I hope we can just look at these and admire the beauty of what it represented in its time.

Thank you A + K for letting me be part of your “Forever and a Day,” and for your beautiful pieces!
