I decided to take a break from practical tasks and create something with my air dry clay. My creative side was starving for this.

It's made with heart. No technique in mind, just shaping as I go. I carved an indigenous symbol for healing into the center.

I'll be painting it after it dries.

I'm starting a high protein and high fiber diet tomorrow. I picked up these purple Karma barley berries at the farmers market yesterday. They are nutrient rich and I feel inspired to make new dishes that utilize this kind of barley.

Basic instructions on cooking them are in this video.

I learned this past week that a past client of mine passed away. He was only 14. Full of life and with a deep passion for playing the banjo. He made everyone feel seen. He was a rare soul. I am deeply hurt by this loss. He made me into the skills trainer that I am today.

May his precious soul rest in peace.

CRADLING BANJO

R.I.P C.O.

Where are you now
young one
with the
curly blonde hair
That overbite smile
and the banjo
in your arms

You cradled it
like the most
treasured prize
the fire and sparkle
lit up your big eyes

I tried so hard
to help you
a friend
and a teacher
but what I did
and others did
didn't manage
to reach you

You took to the streets
with your sharp tongue
and tough face
You threw caution
to the wind
and stormed through
each place

Your life was so short
and your gifts so precious
We are all heartbroken
that your presence
has left us

We carry on bravely
with your soul
by our side
and the one question
we are all left
with
is
Dear God,
Dear God,
Why?

Connecting with my poetic self this Mother's Day, as I spend it solo and reflective...

Reflection

I folded before
and
I’m folding
again
This time
I am clear
and won't try
to pretend

The evil
have risen
and
set down
their roots
They said
walk
with us
now
or
find the path
you will choose

Your
conscience
is driving
the story
this time
People will
fight you
and
accuse you
of crimes

You know
life is rough
and things
won't be easy
but peace
and release
continuously
tease me

Just
out of reach
a dream
and a song
Someday I’ll
be there
It won't’ be
that long

I'm bored. I drew a kiwi bird while I was at work. I will most likely get zero requests..but here we go..anyone want a portrait drawn of their pet or favorite animal?

Just to gain exposure, I'll set my rate at 20 per a drawing if small-scale..large scale/more detail will be 35 per a drawing. Spread the word! I'm ready to start drawing!

I always start to adjust to something right before I leave. I wrote this poem to express the longing I feel for things I'm suddenly attached to but can no longer access...

My Ode to Kale

Oh, how I love thee
your green leafy goodness
The crunch on my tongue
and your distinct earthy
taste.

You make a tuna
sandwich
seem exotic and rare
a sliced onion
beneath you
cannot overtake
the rich flavor in
your leaves.

You blend
beautifully
into a smoothie
with almond
milk
and chia seeds
A concoction
that any
health lover
would approve of.

I savor your
taste
it lingers on
my tongue
and in the pit
of my throat
My belly
sings a song
of green leafy joy
Kale,
how I love thee!

Cooking fried rice from scratch.

I used precooked white rice, which I saved specifically for this recipe. I added sesame oil, soy sauce, scallion onions, jalapenos, cayenne, and egg to make this delicious concoction. You can do it too!

As soon as you invest in a massive bag of white rice and these sauces, you can make the meal endlessly for a fraction of the cost of takeout!
