Treat each bear as the last bear.
Each wolf the last, each caribou.
Each track the last track.
Gone spoor, gone s**t.
There are no more deertrails,
no more flyways.
Treat each animal as sacred,
each minute our last.
Ghost hooves. Ghost skulls.
Death rattles and
dry bones.
Each bear walking alone
in warm night air.

Take a good look at the places you love, they might not be around forever. Our environment has been under attack for decades, but the recent impacts of layoffs in this country will send a massive ripple effect through our environment. Is this what you signed up for? To destroy livelihoods, rack up debt and unemployment, destroy our environment and exploit it's resources for profit while people starve to death and live outside in the cold? Cause I sure as hell didn't.

We are merely guests on this earth, it has been around long before us, and will be around long after us and if that doesn't deserve our respect then I don't know what does.

If you can contribute right now then try! Speak out about the destruction of our environment and the loss of workers who passionately protect it, advocate for our planet and it's inhabitants, at the very least don't be a part of the problem.

Advocacy is resistance, volunteering is resistance, picking up one piece of trash today is resistance, REST is resistance, JOY is resistance. Be happy to spite what is happening in our world,. This earth deserves better. Good luck out there everyone.

Inktober 2022 week 4!

This week I had a ton of stuff going on and kinda forgot to draw lol so here are the last two I drew for the month!

Thanks everyone for following along with me! This is the most drawings I've completed for inktober so far, hopefully next year I can go for the perfect 31/31. It has been a ton of fun though, and help me just find the joy in doodling again.

Hello!

I wanted to share some W.I.P. of a new project I am working on. It will eventually become a full brand identity based on the logo / logotype. I am only in the concept phase for this branding project, but so far I love the direction it's going and I can't wait to show you all the finished project soon!

Inktober 2022 week 3!

This week I focused more on just black and white, practicing with my pen. Mostly because I did them all in one sitting today lol but also because I think I'm getting closer to something I can confidently say is my own style of drawing.

Anywho, enjoy! And thanks for taking a look!

Inktober 2022 week 2!

I'm a little late to the party but here's my inktober drawings for week 2! I'm still having a good time messing with some of my art supplies I never get to use like my watercolor markers. Still need to practice them a lot but I gotta start somewhere!

I'm mostly just proud of myself for sticking with it this year, even if I am a little behind.

Japanese Botanical Gardens

This project is a re-design I have been working on in the background lately. I designed the poster for another project in college and it is one of my favorite pieces of work I've made. Since the original brand was all copyrighted and off limits, I created a new business name, and original logo and branded collateral to go with it.

You can check out the full case study on my website at https://www.jessearmour.com (Link in bio also).

Inktober 2022 week 1!

I usually don't get very far doing Inktober every year but I've set some easy to follow rules for myself this year and so far it has been a lot of fun! I am only committing to drawing on the weekdays and not sticking to one prompt list, just choosing ones that sound like fun from a bunch of different lists.

Anyways, here's the first 5 for the month! It has been a lot of fun experimenting and practicing different techniques.

Lawetlat'la / Louwala-Clough / Loowit stands tall above the forest at sunset. The mountain is a beautiful reminder of nature's destructiveness and resilience. Personally, this is one of my favorite mountains, but beyond that it has much cultural significance to Cowlitz and Yakima people who have stewarded this land for centuries, and continue to take care of it despite the colonization of their lands.

We as humans are merely guests on this earth, this land has been here long before us and will be here long after us. Even so, we must take care of this earth, and listen to those who have taken care of this earth before us.

I recognize that I am a descendant of colonizers, and that my ancestors have attempted to destroy this earth and its native peoples countless times. I would like to break that cycle and recognize the true names and stories of the amazing places we get to experience every day.

The goal of my photography is to show these beautiful places, and use it as a tool to educate and de-colonize them as best I can. I am always open to learning and correction, and hope that my images and sharing what I learn in the process of making them will help others enter the discussion and learn more of this world's true history that we were never taught.
