I stopped a stranger on the street… and his story stopped me. Wait until you see Ian’s portrait at the end!!

Ian works at Subway in Portland’s Chinatown, and he’s a single dad. As we talked, I was reminded that some of the most inspiring people are the ones quietly showing up every day, working hard, loving their families, and doing the best they can.

There are incredible stories all around us if we’re willing to slow down and ask.

To all the dads carrying responsibilities that no one sees: thank you. You are seen. You are loved.

And Ian, if you ever come across this, I hope you know your life matters and your story is worth telling. Your joy is inspiring!

Most importantly, Jesus loves you. 🤍

I was photographing someone else when Dian walked up and asked if I could take a dating profile picture for him.

As we talked, I learned that he’s active in politics, serves in his local church, advocates for foster children, and is working to make sure people can get paid weekly.

Despite all of that, he shared that dating has been hard.

I reminded him that he’s not alone. Dating is tough right now for many people, especially in Portland, Oregon.

Everyone is carrying hopes and prayers that haven’t been answered yet. But even in the waiting, we can walk in hope and faith, trusting that God still has good plans for those who love Him.

Dian, thank you for stopping to say hi. You are seen. You are loved. And most importantly, Jesus loves you.
