On Sunday, April 26, Oregon Chapter, Sierra Club is hosting an event to support Tammy Carpenter's campaign for Oregon State House, District 27. At the event, you will have a chance to chat with Tammy, grab some food and drink, and bid on these photographic prints. All of the ones shown here will be available as Canvas Gallery Wraps, 20" x 30". These photos look great hanging on a wall!

Happy Earth Day!

I took this photo of a Northern Spotted Owl 7 years ago today, on Earth Day in 2019, in a section of Mt. Hood National Forest with gorgeous old growth. The massive trees and moss were spectacular, and this owl was the icing on the cake for one of the most memorable Earth Days I've had.

This photo will be auctioned off on Sunday, April 26, as part of a fundraiser hosted by Oregon Chapter, Sierra Club on behalf of Tammy Carpenter, who is running to become the next Oregon state representative for District 27. More details in the comments.

I'm happy to share that my wife, Tammy Carpenter, is running to be the next Oregon state representative for House District 27!

This Sunday, Oregon Chapter, Sierra Club is hosting an event to support Tammy's campaign. You will have an opportunity to come hear directly from Tammy on how she will stand up for our environment and how she will work to address climate change. You will also have the opportunity to purchase prints of some of my photos, with all proceeds going directly to supporting Tammy's campaign. An RSVP form is in the comments below.

Tammy Carpenter will be a solid, reliable voice for birds and the environment in general. She will work to ensure we protect our environment and all the life that it supports. She will stand up for our remaining old growth. She will not take money from the oil, gas, or timber industries - her priorities will be clean air, clean water, healthy, sustainable forests, and aggressively addressing climate change as the existential threat that it is to all forms of life on the planet.

A juvenile Northern Saw-whet Owl peers out of its nest, taking in the bright sun in the sky, perhaps for the first time. I took this photograph in the north end of Portland's Forest Park.

On April 16, the Forest Park Conservancy will be hosting their second annual Wild for the Woods spring fundraiser. A 20" x 30" canvas gallery wrap of this photo will be raffled off at that event. Tickets are on sale now! You can find the ticket buying page using the link I put in the comments.

The Forest Park Conservancy was a key player in ensuring that PGE did not clear cut a very unique section of the park with very old oak trees. Their focus is to ensure the ecological health of both Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park, while also making the parks accessible. They organize work parties to pull ivy and to maintain trails, which benefits every single one of us who enjoy Forest Park.
