Oh hi!! I’m Joelle!
Been doing this gig for 5 years and dreaming of what the next 5 years could look like.
When I started photography, I thought it might be a temporary thing to hold us over while we dealt with some life transitions. But lately, this is feeling like a forever kind of thing in the best way possible. I used to want to be a social worker. To help and advocate for people. I wanted my job to feel important, and like I was providing an invaluable service. Lately, I’ve been realizing the gravity of what I do. As photographers, we capture and highlight beauty amidst a world that focuses so much on things that are negative, trivial, scary… There can be so much healing that comes from a photo. The memories we capture are fleeting. So that preservation of a moment is invaluable.
For me, the magic comes through relationship and connection. Being trusted to capture life’s biggest moments, and being invited back to the next isn’t a responsibility I take lightly. It’s an honor.
So I’ll be here for the belly laughs when we realize dad’s fly was down during the shoot, the quiet tears of grandpa on a wedding day, the tender glance between a mom and her daughter as she walks down the aisle, the wild toddlers running through tall grass, ignoring the pile of unwashed bottles on the kitchen counter together during a newborn shoot…
I’m here to capture the moments we live for. 🤍
P.s: Had so much fun in the studio with & @ during his branding shoot.
