When Helene and Tracey reached out to me to extend an invitation to work with them on creating a series of images for the iconic Blackrock Farm I jumped at the chance.
I've been visiting and photographing the greenhouses for years and they have always been gracious in allowing me to use the grounds for seniors and mini sessions.
I was so excited when Helene gave me a full tour of everything there is to see.
Beautiful shady sunken gardens with soothing fountains sitting in ponds full of frogs and dragonflies, walking paths, a stunning tree lined pond, an old cemetery and so much more.
Last season Blackrock Farm and the The Nonantum Resort formed a collaboration where the Nonantum grows fresh vegetables while keeping the land healthy and in use (without the use of any pesticides and insecticides).
The vegetables gardens are as equally impressive and beautiful as the flower gardens!
Veggies are available at Bradbury Brothers Market and the farm stand on site at Blackrock.
Last season the Nonantum donated over 1 ton of vegetables to the community!
My goal is to photograph the farm in all its glory over the next few weeks during different times of day- sunrise and sunset - to really capture the peaceful and tranquil atmosphere while writing a well deserved full story on the history on the farm as well as the collaboration happening and the women behind it.
It really is a magical place run by magical women doing magical things.
My collaboration doesn't end there!
I will be offering limited session at the farm by appointment all year round.
More details to come but for now please do yourself a favor and plan a visit to walk the grounds of this magnificent place.
I have had the privilege of visiting some of the most beautiful gardens in the country from Descanso Gardens in California to Chanticleer, Longwood Gardens, and Tyler Arboretum in PA.
Blackrock gives the feeling of a private garden experience against the backdrop of acres of trees worthy of a designation of arboretum.
Dawn redwoods, weeping cedar, weeping willows, towering white pines, healthy hemlocks, maples for days and so so many more line the horizon and provide shade throughout the property.
I have so much more to say and show about this wonderful place.
Pack a light snack, water, and your comfortable shoes and wander the grounds.
You'll be so glad you did.
