I feel like I’m trying to breathe underwater these last few days

Every song sounds like sirens

I could burst into tears any minute, and I have

If someone poked me, I’d just fall right over

I look around me and wonder if anyone else feels like this, too

Am I feeling things too intensely?

I feel disappointed in myself for seeing the worst in everybody this weekend

How are people functioning?

I cried in the dance studio parking lot

I feel angry. I don’t want to see another church offering “thoughts and prayers”

The people are asking for a print shop… which photos should I include? More flowers? Haystack rock? Disney double exposures? That first one of the Piton in St Lucia, overlooking sugar beach, is my most popular print yet!

Tetrachromacy is my special interest… please talk with me about it 🤓

This affects a very small percentage of people, and you have to be chromosomaly female to be a tetrachromat. If you’ve ever felt like you see colors differently from people around you… there might be a genetic reason for that.

In a scientific study, one woman was able to identify the difference between a yellow light and a red-green light (which would appear yellow to a trichromat like me).

I wonder what the world looks like to her?

I think that’s why photography has such an appeal to me. I want to show you how I perceive the world.

My analog summer on 35mm & holga cameras 🎞️

I like the Kodak fun saver and Fuji quicksnap because of the lofi lens and the flash - same with the hello kitty 35mm! The Nikon N80 & Nikon F100 gave me enough control for my creative projects / double exposures, and the holga is somewhat the best of all worlds: flash, double exposures, and a lofi lens! The reto is dreamy in its own way, with the wide lens giving lots of lens flare in direct sun. The biggest upgrade to my kit this summer was buying a holga with a hot shoe and adding a tiny external flash. It seriously makes a huge difference compared to the model with the built-in flash. I tried blind doubles on my reto, which felt scary (because I love control and there’s no controls on the reto) and I loved how they turned out. I’m also getting into cinestill 800 for my personal work and loving the extremely cool tones. The other thing that made the biggest difference for me? Deciding to sell my digital camera.

I made these images weeks ago, but didn’t share them because I thought the project failed when I didn’t get the 35mm frames to line up perfectly for the “blind” double exposures. But then I looked again… 👀
