Exciting news! VEKSALINA Photography has been selected as a vendor at ScanFair 2026, one of the largest holiday markets in Oregon, December 12–13 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.

Now in its 42nd year, ScanFair draws more than a hundred vendors and around 8,000 visitors over one weekend. I'll be there with fine art prints of Scandinavian landscapes, collected over nearly a decade of living there. The prints range from postcards and calendars to gallery canvases. Alongside them, I'm making Nordic-inspired ornaments and holiday decor to warm every home. So mark your calendars and come meet me. Browse, get inspired, and take a piece of Scandinavia home with you.

Preparing for my first Christmas market, I'm looking forward to learning a lot along the way. If you've ever done one, I would be grateful for your advice and experience. I would also appreciate it if you'd spread the word and cheer me on in this exciting new project.

A surprise proposal at Trillium Lake, first thing in the morning of a holiday weekend—and the whole lake, the views, and the trails were ours. Dayton and Madison traveled from the Midwest for this and trusted me with the place, the timing, and every little recommendation along the way.

A few highlights from Fika at Fogelbo. Seven courses of savory and sweet treats, each dish arriving with its own story or a little note, and between courses the docents walked us through the history of the cabin and some remarkable recent acquisitions. An afternoon surrounded by history, and a chance to share the philosophy of fika with our guests.

Every October, Portland puts on the most beautiful light of the year—golden maples at Laurelhurst, amber hillsides on Mt. Tabor, the arches of the St. Johns Bridge framed in color. This fall, I'm setting up my camera right in the middle of it.

Minis are a compact way to get my signature portraits. Everything is already planned: the park, the light, the timing. You come dressed and feeling your best, and for 20 minutes I get to do what I love most—seeing the character in front of my lens and telling their story in elegant, glowy portraits with that cinematic, vintage film-like warmth.

If you have spent any time in Oregon, chances are Mount Hood is somewhere in your memories. The drive up Highway 26 through Sandy and Government Camp, watching the snow-capped peak rise above the trees. Dinner at Timberline Lodge as the sky turns to stars. A campfire deep in the National Forest. A proposal—maybe yours—on the shore of Trillium Lake.

One year ago this week, I stood in that lake at midnight and made a single ten-second exposure: the mountain, the Milky Way, and a woman on a rock with her arms lifted toward the night sky. That photograph—"Reaching for the Stars"—has resonated with people ever since. My brave model, Lorelai Shae, held perfectly still for all ten seconds, as if levitating between the lake and the stars, and made the image what it is.

Today, the Fine Art Print Shop is open—and this piece can now live in your home. "Choosing Alina was one of the best decisions we made for our brand."

Last March, I worked with Kate and Viktor, founders of KRAFTUM Studio—a Vancouver-based business creating handcrafted wooden candles that bring hygge and warmth into homes.

They traveled to the Oregon coast for a brand elevation session that went far beyond product photography. We spent time understanding their philosophy: savoring the journey, not just the destination. Then I created a visual narrative that reflected that—a reverse-chronology story showing them not unpacking, but packing for the next adventure.

When I moved to Portland a little over a year ago, I knew no one in the creative industry. Here, my journey as a photographer and creative director started with pretty much a blank page and the determination to put a ton of hard work into turning my dreams into reality.

This year brought a lot of change—driven by focused work and heartwarming support. I now have a registered business, a fully custom-made website based on my designs, a signature artistic style, an extensive portfolio, and a community of creative, passionate, and truly inspiring individuals around me. Throughout the year, I had the privilege of working with professional models, performers, musicians, and various artists on meaningful and memorable projects. Together, we’ve created numerous galleries that elevate personal brands, help unleash inner creativity, and promote timeless elegance.

As always, my hope is that my work promotes self-love, empowerment, and inspiration in both my collaborators and everyone who has a chance to experience my art. I am looking forward to 2026 with great enthusiasm and excitement as I continue to grow as an artist and bring more tasteful art into this world—so stick around!
