🌸Spring Mini Session Opportunity!

I don't do these often... But, this year I'm planning a spring mini session event for Saturday evening, May 9th in (or closely around) the Pardeeville/Portage area. I already have a couple families signed up for this opportunity, but I wanted to put it out there to see if anyone else was interested. It can be used for an immediate family, couple, just the kids, mommy-and-me, etc. It cannot be used for newborns or extended family. Sessions will be scheduled for a 20 minute block, back to back. I can only take a certain number of sessions and will book based on a "first come" basis. Send me a message if you would like to book one of these sessions! 🌸

There's nothing I love more than capturing a part of my own family! Meet my sweet nephew and his beautiful bride. We met up at a local greenhouse recently to document this special time in their life as they await the arrival of their first baby. They are going to be the best parents, and I can't wait to cheer them on and have another "great" to love and snuggle. The love these two share for each other, for their sweet baby, and for the Lord is such a blessing. I mean, just look at how these two look at each other! 😍

Lukie, I'm so very proud of you, buddy! You were always the sweetest kid and you've grown into the sweetest man. I can't wait to see you as a father. Autumn, thank you for loving Luke so well and for desiring to honor God with your life. You're going to love being a mom! I love all THREE of you so very much. 🩷

My oldest nephew brought his beautiful family to my house for a quick family session last week. Sometimes I still can't believe he's all grown up with his own precious children. 🥹Being an aunt is one of my most favorite things. 🩷 Add on "great" in front of aunt and I'm a goner. Love these sweet babies to the moon and back!

I thought it might be fun to show a comparison of the lenses I use most often for sessions. My clients might see me switch between two cameras during their session and here's a side by side to show what I'm capturing and why I switch things up.

The 35mm is my go to lens. I use it 90% of the time, especially for family sessions. It allows me to be close/connected to my clients which helps with giving prompts for different poses (clients can hear me better) and capturing little ones who don't sit still (the close proximity helps me interact with the kids and make them feel safe/comfortable). As you can see in the picture on the left, the background isn't as blurred as the one on the right, but I love how the subject and background don't fight for dominance. It's a perfect blend. It feels simple, real, and true to life for me.

The 85mm is my first photography love. It's what I started with when I began portrait work with high school seniors over ten years ago. Because it's a longer lens, I have to stand farther away from my subject in order to fit them in the frame. I've found for seniors (especially ones who are more hesitant to be in front of the camera) that when I'm not up close and personal in their space with my 35mm, it helps them relax and enjoy the process a little bit more. The 85mm also gives me the most gorgeous bokeh in the background and that will always have my heart!

So, there you have it. A simple explanation/example of the equipment I use and why. Which look do you prefer?

The cutest cowboy and cowgirl are getting hitched! 🩷

I don't shoot weddings so I don't often shoot engagement sessions, but when my nephew called me before he proposed to his high school sweetheart and asked me to reserve a fall engagement session for him, the answer was obviously, "YES!!"

It drizzled on us almost the entire shoot and it was freezing cold, but these two were good sports and made my job so easy. The dreary day couldn't dampen their love or the gorgeous fall colors.

Can't wait for your wedding, Matthew and Danielle! Love you both so much!

Jacoby | Class of 2026

When his mom contacted me and shared that Jacoby wanted to include his vintage car and electric guitars in his session, my mind started spinning to come up with the perfect backdrops for his vision. I love how it all turned out! He was such a great sport as we drove all around the county to the different locations I picked out. And, a huge shout out to mom who came along to keep outfits and guitars organized, and for directing traffic while we grabbed the road shots! ;)

This family is very special to me. We prayed the Lord would answer the cry of their hearts and bless them with a child...and here she is! It's been an absolute joy to watch them become parents. They adore their sweet little angel baby as you can clearly see in these images. They're now on an adoption journey and needed family photos for a book their adoption agency requested. I was thrilled they asked me to capture their love and joy as a family. Our prayers are with them again as they trust how God grows their family. 🩷

The Graber Family...
These boys are just the sweetest! It's been fun watching them grow up in front of my camera. Their daddy Brock helps keep our animals fed on the farm! He mixes and delivers all the feed for our show animals. He's been such an encouragement to our kids over the years as they learn about caring for and showing cattle. We're grateful for you, Brock and Holly! 🩷

The Koehler Family...
Lacey is the talent behind Lacey Koehler Photography here in town. She has grown her business while raising her boys, and it's been a joy to watch her evolve as an artist. I've been capturing her family since her oldest son was about two years old. We always have fun at their session each year because...boys will be boys, and I absolutely love it! You'll notice a few images included in the gallery to prove we don't take ourselves too seriously at a session. If we can't have some fun, it's not worth the effort, in my opinion! This year we got a range of weather within minutes...gorgeous sun to moody clouds. Thanks for trusting me with your memories, Lacey! 🩷

Josh | Class of 2026

I always love capturing the uniqueness of each senior who comes to me for a session. Josh loves the outdoors, has a great work ethic, and is respectful and kind. We had the perfect evening for his session and I enjoyed hearing all the opportunities that Josh has in his future.

You've got a good head on your shoulders, Josh! You'll never regret obedience to God as you trust Him with your future.
