With the new live action movie coming out tomorrow, I thought it would be fun to try a minute of this song.

“Something’s Always Wrong” by

Toad posted yesterday that their album Dulcinea turned 32 this week. This was the song they used in their post, so I had to give it a try.

I’ll be looking forward to seeing them live this summer at the Frederik Meijer Gardens!

I hope you enjoy my short cover and then go listen to Dulcinea wherever you like to stream things.

And I would like to add that I appreciate the fact that they also played this one in a lower key on their new acoustic album, so I didn’t have to feel bad lowering it myself… (you should listen to that album too)

“One Song Glory” from Rent

My daughter sang in a production of La Boheme last weekend with the Kalamazoo Children’s Chorus, which of course got me thinking back to Rent.

Since this year marks the 30th anniversary of the show, and I had also just seen that The Barn Theatre has the show on the list for this season, I thought it might be fun to give this song a try.

Roger is a role that I really wouldn’t ever have been the right fit for, but I always loved this song and it is fun to play on an acoustic.

My rendition could still use some work, and I probably should have turned the gain down a little bit on my Audigo mic (maybe one of these days I will learn how to properly record…), but I am pretty happy with how this living room recording turned out.

My stats tell me that the few of you who see this in their feeds won’t stay past the first few seconds but, for those who do, thanks for listening.

I just posted a guitar tutorial for this song, so I thought it would be fun to post a ukulele tutorial as well.

This is not the original key of this song, but it did come from an entire book of Tom Petty songs for the ukulele.

I know there’s guitar tutorials everywhere, but this is a fun song to play. I forgot to say, as I was describing this one that you would need a capo on the first fret to use these chords and match the original key.

These chords are fun to play and you can keep your ring finger on the same string to help guide you for all three of the chords you will need for this song.

I love the way they positioned this statue from the Hall of Heroes exhibit that has been on display at the Air Zoo. I had to try to get a shot of this view of the helicopter flying over the Hulk.
