The Neoclassical-style building was originally constructed in 1907 by Alexander B. McDonell, a local lumber industry captain. It opened in January 1908 as the McDonell Memorial High School. At the time, it was the second-oldest functioning Catholic high school in Wisconsin. The high school outgrew the facility and relocated to a new campus in 1964. For roughly 30 years, the grand building sat completely vacant and heavily neglected. Pigeons moved in, windows were smashed, and the elements severely decayed the plaster and buckled the wood flooring. After a massive community campaign that raised over two million dollars, volunteers fully restored the building. It officially reopened to the public in 2000 as the Heyde Center for the Arts.

This is the historic Two Harbors station which is also known as the Duluth and Iron Range Railroad Company Depot. Built in 1907, this large two-story brick depot was designed by Duluth architect Peter Olson. It was the third station structure erected on this specific site. Beyond serving as a passenger station, the building originally functioned as the headquarters and corporate offices for the Duluth & Iron Range Railroad. It sat at the critical intersection of northern Minnesota's iron mines, logging industries, and Lake Superior shipping lanes. The station managed dense commercial freight and passenger lines for decades until commercial passenger travel along the line officially ceased on July 15, 1961

the historic Chik-Wauk Lodge, located near the northern terminus of the Gunflint Trail on the shores of Saganaga Lake in Grand Marais, Minnesota. Long before the lodge was built, the area was populated by Native Americans. The name "Chik-Wauk" stems from an Ojibwe word meaning "pine tree" or "white pine". The region served as a pivotal route for Native cultures, voyageurs, fur traders, and early miners. The lodge was built in 1933 by Edwin and Art Nunstedt, the lodge was constructed out of locally sourced native stone and timber. It was operated as a premier fishing and vacation resort, drawing tourists looking to experience the vast, pristine wilderness of what would later become the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

A couple mile hike to get to the rock formation called Magnwtic Rock. It is worth to check out some of the views along the way. Magnetic rock stands about 60 ft tall.

The rock is a massive fragment of the Gunflint Iron Formation, which was deposited roughly 1.88 billion years ago along the shoreline of an ancient sea. It consists of dense layers of iron-bearing minerals, primarily magnetite. The rock contains exceptionally high concentrations of magnetite, the most magnetic naturally occurring mineral on Earth. If you bring a traditional hand compass close to its surface, the concentrated iron content disrupts the Earth's standard pull, causing the compass needle to spin erratically or map completely backward.

In September of 1871, F.X. Schmitmayer, owner of the Schmitmayer Brewing Co., purchased the cave and seven surrounding acres along Duncan Creek. He expanded the space and secured it to store and naturally cool his brewery's b**r using an existing natural water spring. A hole was cut through the cave ceiling from the surface near Jefferson Avenue. Rather than being a loading chute, this opening originally functioned as a vital ventilation shaft to regulate the cave's temperature.

An underground tunnel called Silver Creek Cliff tunnel. It was built between August 1991 and July 1994. The structure measures 1,344 feet long and 46 feet wide. It is one of only two hard-rock mined highway tunnels in Minnesota. Crews blasted and cleared roughly 500,000 cubic yards of rock over three years to construct it. For 70 years prior, Highway 61 traffic traveled along a tight, terrifying two-lane ledge directly on the cliff's edge. Falling boulders from the weakened bluffs and the constant threat of vehicles plummeting 125 feet down into Lake Superior forced MnDOT to build this inland tunnel for driver safety
