Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've posted! It's actually been a while since I've gone out photographing. Currently living in a creative rut 🙃 but seeing this young alligator while out kayaking gave me a little boost!

The sun was in and out of the clouds while taking these but I think they turned out okay! 🐊

Hello everyone! Since you've all been loving the photos from my trip to South Africa, I wanted to leave a little review of the amazing course I took over there.

At the end of June I had the great fortune of getting to participate in the photography course offered by Thula Thula - Exclusive Private Game Reserve! Kim Mcleod Photography, the reserve's resident photographer, is an absolute rockstar. She created the course to be hands on and easy to understand. I had taken photography in high school but as the years go by some little things start escaping my memory. This course was the perfect refresher to get me back up to speed. No advanced photography skills are needed to to do the course as Kim goes over all of the basics and teaches you everything you need to know. The best part was getting to apply the lessons we learned out on the game drives. Our ranger had also taken the course a few times and knew exactly what we were looking for. As an aspiring wildlife photographer, I was taught the correct settings and ways to look at animals such as elephants, white rhinos, zebra, and hippos (and many more) for the perfect photo. Kim even teaches you how to edit them, which is always a plus!

Aside from the amazing lessons, the overall atmosphere was simply phenomenal. Since the course takes place at Thula Thula's Volunteer Academy, you'll also be amongst the volunteers and rangers who are involved in that program. We had spent meals, game drives, and nightly fires together. It quickly felt as though I had been friends with everyone here for years. This is surely an experience I'll never forget and I look forward to my next trip to Thula Thula, which will hopefully be sooner rather than later!

While I still have photos from South Africa to post, I wanted to share these from my (very hot🥵) walk at Jonathan Dickinson State Park on Sunday! Eastern Lubbers are one of my favorite critters. I mean, look how pretty they are!

This is baby Tom! Tom is the elephant calf that took Francoise's kitchen by storm, which she wrote about in An Elephant in My Kitchen! I was over the moon getting to see Tom and her mom ET (Enfant Terrible) during my last morning game drive at Thula Thula - Exclusive Private Game Reserve! We sat and had a cup of coffee while Tom and ET munched on some leaves for breakfast. 🐘🥰🐘

Another bird commonly found at Thula Thula - Exclusive Private Game Reserve is the White-backed Vulture! We usually saw them soaring high above the reserve or spending time in their nests.

I could not be more grateful for this is experience. I love elephants with all my heart and soul so getting to be this close is something I'll never forget. The photos of the elephant eyes I have on my photography page came from Mandla, who seemed to be posing for me at this point♥️♥️♥️

Hippos are notorious for their aggressive behavior, but at Thula Thula - Exclusive Private Game Reserve Romeo and his family love hanging out with the guests and rangers! Upon arriving at Mkhulu Dam, the family of five hopped in the water and swam right over to greet us and enjoy an early morning cup of coffee 🦛♥️

In addition to the bigger animals, Thula Thula - Exclusive Private Game Reserve is also home to some stunning smaller ones! During a game drive we sat and watched this White-fronted Bee-eater for about 10 minutes😍
