Big and Little - Great Egret and Snowy Egret showing their off differences for those who aren't familiar with them. The much smaller Snowy Egret in the front and our taller Great Egret hanging in the back! Had I known they were both coming into my frame, I would have changed my F Stop to maybe get that Great Egret in focus too but I must have been distracted! :) This was taken during an individual instruction time which I am winding up with for this season. Summer Fog. This tree has hosted countless birds over the years - Roseate Spoonbills, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Anhingas, Cormorants, Belted Kingfishers and many more. It is slowly falling into the marsh but still hanging on. It will be a sad day when it finally succumbs . Great Egret resting for a moment during a beautiful summer morning sunrise mixed with fog (technically a spring sunrise but it sure doesn't feel like it)

Adding some color to my Friday - this handsome fellow flew in front of my car and perched for me in the reeds.🌈 I was 100% not ready to take photos - camera strapped in with seatbelt, turned off, lens cap on, settings from yesterday still dialed in. All the things I try not to do when driving onto a scene. At least I did manage to put the car in park. 🙂 He was patient and let me fire off some shots before he moved on! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Intertwined. Greater Flamingos in an embrace - it is really, really hard not to read human emotions in the behaviors of birds when you watch courtship and bonding rituals like this. Just incredible to watch.

Great Egret making a graceful entrance 💚. This was a little earlier this spring when those beautiful lores were a gorgeous emerald green. Now the Great Egrets are all busy raising their babies and that bright green has faded back to yellow. No matter the color of their lores, they are always elegant and beautiful to watch. I hope you all have a great day!

Whimbrel in Blue 💙 . One of my favorite migratory birds to watch each spring . They are very difficult to isolate for images and get close to. They tend to be in groups and are extremely skittish. The best hope is to be in place and have one fly in right in front of you - as was the case here. This was a après bath moment with a little fluffing of the feathers!

We have needed rain so desperately around here - but on one of the rare days we got it this season, I was not at all prepared for a surprise downpour and ended up absolutely soaked! I was working with a lovely lady that day so we did get to practice playing rain streaks which is always fun! This Wood Stork was right there with us getting completely dumped on and taking it all in stride. We have more rain in the forecast so hopefully we can make up for our shortfall!
