📣 CALLING ALL KITSAP PHOTOGRAPHERS, ARTISTS, CREATIVES, QU**RS & VOLUNTEERS 📣
TL:DR looking for volunteers in exchange for studio access, photography, and sponsor status
For those who don’t know me, I'm River, owner of The Evergreen Girls, an Identity Affirming photography art and design business. You might have seen us running around photographing Kitsap Pride last year, or may know me best as the Haus Goddexx of the Haus Evergreen Drag Family ✨
Over the past few years we’ve been quietly building an overtly Q***R photography studio and creative space here in Kitsap County, specifically in Port Orchard, and we’re happy to announce that we will be opening in a limited capacity for folks that are looking for an indoor/outdoor space to express creatively and safely without having to travel to Seattle or Tacoma 🥳
Now, we understand the impact a spaces like this can have for the community which is why we found it so important to opening it up early. On that note, we still have a lot of work left to do before the space is considered “ finished” so we're asking our community for help to get this space finished so it can fulfill it's purpose and serve our community! The studio, 🌲Haus Evergreen 🌲 is on an acre of land in unincorporated Port Orchard where there is the freedom to take up as much space as you want in your authenticity. When it’s done the property will be a micro event venue (think: intimate elopements), creative studio space, community food forrest and artist retreat.
Now there is a LOT of work to do before we open up the entire property to the public but we’re hopping that with help from the community we can speed things up and get this resource into the hands of those who need it 💕At the end of the day if you are motivated to help we’ll find something for you to do, from work on sight to help fundraising or simply referrals to those who can help, any and all aid is appreciated
Now, for those of us that are more detail oriented there are some specifics about the project and what we need from you in the comment section…
About the space
The garage is actively being converted to the primary studio (which is far enough along to host photoshoots, depending on the needs of the shoot). As of right now, it’s excellent for backdrop work (as pictured above), plus the floor is cement so it’s easy clean-up for sessions that are messy (i.e. fake blood, inflatable swimming pools, etc) but still needs some cosmetic and electrical work
The main building on the property is a colorful and maximalist lofi styled interior excellent for lifestyle and family sessions and we hope it will become a gallery space for local artists
The yard is an acre of meadow meets pine forrest and changes with the weather. In the spring its dominated by wildflowers (and grass, for now) and in the summer its filled with all the yummy food we’ll be growing. Right now we need help cleaning up the garbage and lack of care that the previous owner left behind as well as prepare the land for spring planting
What we’re asking for from our community
Assistance fundraising: venues, organizers, volunteers etc. This will help us afford the more costly aspects of this endeavor.
Major + Minor Construction work: Insalation and drywall, new fencing, decking, and more
Electrical: in the studio so we can stop using extension cords
Landscaping + yardwork: Y’all already know i’m going to say blackberry pulling 😅 but also we are cleaning out a chicken coop, duck pond, and are building an entire food forrest. Anyone with seeds, starts are always appreciated.
Referrals: If you find yourself unable to find the time to make it out and still want to help simply spread the word and if you know someone who has the experience, resources or the connections to be able to get any of this done please send them our way
We recognize that having a larger team of volunteers will exponentially speed up the process and will mean this space can be used sooner. But we also acknowledge that any healthy energy exchange goes both ways so here is what we’re offering to our volunteers
What you’ll get
Anyone who helps with donating food starts / seeds or helps with the planting and building of our property wide food forrest will be able welcomed to participate in the first year harvest of all their hardwork
Anyone looking to donate their skilled labor and resources to the project (think electrical work, fencing installation, concrete polishing etc) Will be considered a sponsor of the space and we will be offering a complimentary photoshoot, design work, or studio access of equal/lesser value upon completion of the project) and name/business will be included on a plaque in the studio to memoralize those who helped bring this dream to fruition
Any photographer simply donating their time as an additional body will be given 1 hour of studio access
EVERYONE who helps will be given a shout of on our business social media and be added to our refferal list
