My name is Kevin Krout. My wife and I will celebrate 41 years of marriage on September 22, 2026, and I am 69 years old, with my 70th birthday coming up on December 18. We have been blessed with a wonderful family, including our daughter, son-in-law, and our grandson, who turns two this September. Spending time with them is one of the greatest joys in my life. I also treasure the close relationship we have with my daughter's in-laws—they truly feel like family.
I have been diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and I am searching for a living kidney donor. Watching my sister begin dialysis last week made this journey even more personal. While I know dialysis can keep people alive, I also know that a kidney transplant offers the best chance to enjoy life more fully.
I'm retired, but I stay active doing the things I love. I enjoy photography, especially capturing the beauty of nature. I love boating, fishing, and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, where I can help others and give back to the community. I'm also a lifelong fan of motorcycle racing and just about every kind of racing.
What I miss most is the freedom to travel. My wife and I have always enjoyed visiting our country's national parks, exploring new places, and spending time with cousins and friends. Dialysis make's those trips—and even simple family adventures—much more difficult, if not impossible.
Receiving a living kidney transplant would mean so much more than improving my health. It would give me the chance to keep making memories with my grandson as he grows, enjoy more years with my wife and family, continue volunteering, and once again experience the freedom to travel and embrace the outdoors I love.
