Along with new stuff, I'm going to start posting old images. I feel like now is a really good time for me to go back into my catalog and look at all the things I've created.

I’ve started writing this post more times than I can count and every single time I’ve closed it without finishing. Maybe that in and of itself says something.
After 16 beautiful, unbelievable years, Evermore Portrait Co. may be closing its doors on December 31, 2026. I say may because apparently I’m still not quite ready to make those words permanent. There’s still a part of me that wonders if something will change or if I’ll find my way back to what made me love this so much in the first place.

Because I really do love it. This little business became bigger than anything I ever imagined when I started. It gave me a career and a creative outlet and let me make some really beautiful things. I’ve photographed babies who became toddlers, toddlers who became big kids, and families who trusted me with their memories year after year. I’m incredibly proud of what I built, but photography has changed so much. The industry is incredibly saturated now, and somewhere along the way it started to feel less about the art and the experience and more about being fast, cheap, constantly available and making quick money. And on top of that, being a photographer now seems to mean constantly selling yourself. Make the reels. Talk to the camera. Show your face. Share your life. Stay visible. Keep feeding social media so people remember you exist.
I don’t want to do that.
I don’t want my success to depend on how much of myself I’m willing to put online. I want to make beautiful things quietly and let the work speak for itself. And maybe the business I built 16 years ago just doesn’t fit very well into what this industry has become. Or maybe I’ve changed too.

So unless something changes between now and then, December 31 will be the last day of Evermore Portrait Co. I don’t know how I feel about that yet. Sixteen years is a really long time to call something yours, and I’m still trying to imagine what it will feel like to set it down.
If this is the end, I won’t see Evermore as something that failed or something I gave up on. It became more than I ever dreamed it could be. It gave me a body of work I’m proud of, relationships I’ll always value, and memories I never could have made anywhere else.

I wanted to tell you now because I couldn’t let the year end without sharing what’s been on my mind. For some of you, this may not come as a surprise. For others, I know it may feel completely unexpected. I’m not sure what the future holds yet, but I’m grateful you’ve been part of this chapter and I wanted you to hear it from me.
