Videre - A Photo (me) and Video (Ashlind Malooley) Duo helping you create high end visuals for your brand so you can be seen and be known.

Last year I was invited to capture a luxury Villa in Tuscany, Italy. They also requested video so I reached out to Ashlind. Thinking this would be a once in a lifetime experience proved to be wrong when we got invited to Florida next to capture the biggest luxury yacht show in the World, and then got invited back again, and again... And this April we will find ourselves back in Italy capturing another Villa.

For some reason I haven't shared a lot about this journey. I think it's because I've just been so happy LIVING it. I didn't want to have to advertise or make content about it. It was all just naturally flowing. But now, as it continues to grow, and we continue to travel and make amazing connections with different people and brands, it feels right to share a bit more.

We also have opportunities coming that might just include YOU, if you want! Ways in which we can work together to get your brand in front of an audience that values the time and effort it takes to create quality experiences, items, and services.

When I first got invited to Italy and heard "luxury" I was worried I didn't belong there. It's weird how you start to see things differently the more you are around them. Saying this sounds odd, but it's true- I've worked on boats bigger than most homes, tasted some of the world's oldest and most expensive spirits, had casual talks with billionaires, and have stayed in Villas that cost more to rent in 1 week than most of us make in 1 year.

But none of that is really intimidating anymore, if anything, it's inspiring. What can be created when people are willing to pay attention to fine detail, push their skills and knowledge to new heights, do their best, and also invite other people into those experiences and that world- that's the mindset we built Videre around. Luxury isn't just about money. It's also a feeling. And that feeling is what we help capture in still and moving frames.

So here's a peek at what I have been capturing going on for almost 2 years now. I hope you enjoy and I hope you follow our new page as we expand and bring you along!

Lily traveled from Grand Rapids, on the opposite side of the state, to come do a session with me here, specifically asking for our rocky beaches - so I delivered.

She showed up looking like a goddess, and after that, things just kept aligning perfectly. I live for these last moments of the day, though - the way a session ends after a long evening of traveling all around and outfit changes. Nothing matters anymore. We nailed all the looks, we hit all the spots, we stayed on schedule, and now we can forget all of that and say, 'Let's get soaking wet as the sun sets on this massive boulder in the lake.'

That's how smiles like this surface, and it's always a beautiful moment!

The last time I photographed Ben he was 4 and graduating from preschool. Now he's graduating from high school and drove all the way from Texas so we could do a session together! So much has changed, but one thing that hasn't is his kind demeanor and sweet smile.
Normally if local people want to make a location stop at the bridge I kindly try to suggest something a little more unexpected for their shoot, but working with someone from out of state who was looking to showcase the roots of his hometown- this really was perfect.
Seeing it every day, having easy access to a completely different country by 1 short bridge drive- we locals do tend to overlook the beauty and uniqueness our local area has to offer, so it was fun seeing it with fresh eyes!

I teared up during the ceremony. I teared up editing the ceremony. I am just so beyond happy these two found each other and that I was asked to capture their love and special day. What an honor!

*I do not do weddings (in the traditional sense) for the public but I am for hire for small, intimate days or adventurous elopements!

High school baseball player turned professional model.
Ok. So, maybe that's not his plans after graduation. But I can see it, can't you??

We squeezed this Senior session in at the veryyy last minute! Zach is the last sibling of 3 that I've had the honor of photographing! I am SO sad my "Senior" journey with this family is over, but what an honor it's been capturing each of them!

With May being mental health awareness month, let me just say- You do not have to feel shame for feeling your emotions deeply. You don’t have to be ashamed that you don’t wake up happy every day. Don’t beat yourself up for overthinking- it’s often something that many of don’t choose to do, we just find ourselves in the loop we can’t break. Don’t accept the shame other people will try to put on you when they get uncomfortable with your “dark” thoughts. Find people who are open to accepting you and your emotions, at all levels.

Know you’re not weird, broken, overly dramatic, and especially know- you’re not alone.

My mental health is something I think I have always kinda battled with since I was 17 but now at 39 am fully understanding and accepting.
But ya know what? I’m proud of who I am and how my brain works. It makes me feel deeply, create openly, and dream big. With that being said, I’ve also done a lot of work to help my brain maintain a better balance and stay out of rock bottom. I’m not perfect but I’ve crawled myself out of some dark holes with the help of therapy, “spiritual” practices, and fierce friends, loving family, and a husband who has never once made me feel like I’m something to fix. Even when I’m sitting broken, sobbing on my kitchen floor because my brain is too overwhelmed for simple tasks like cooking dinner.
Find those people. Allow yourself to be honest about your emotions. And try your damndest not to overthink, well, everything, as some of us have a tendency to do.
If you deal with depression, anxiety, any type of neurodivergence, a mental disorder, or you just know what it’s like to have a s**t day- I see you.
I know “Don’t overthink it” is an oversimplified statement, and it’s no quick fix, but I do believe it’s a statement that so many of us wish we could embrace more and dare I say, if we learn how to, it could change everything.
