Europe trip stop #5: Dublin!

The city was an-álainn! Compared to all the other cities we've been to this trip, Dublin is a lot less grand and showy. It reminds me a lot of home, just with some extra really old history - like catacombs that likely date back to 1092 AD, and various other sites that are viking in origin.

And of course, there are a handful more pubs! I think most blocks have 2-3 pubs throughout the city center, and Tower Street is just all pubs. There's no lack of spirits.

What helps that fact too is that right in the heart of Dublin is Guiness and Jameson! We toured both and they were fantastic! Honestly, my highlight of the entire trip was trying a cask-strengh glass of Jameson right out of the cask in one of the best rooms I've ever been in. Enjoying a Guinness while overlooking the entire city of Dublin was pretty great too.

No matter how great these experiences were, the thing that made them unforgettable was spending time with the love of my life, Lexus Schrock - I can't wait for so many more adventures with you (once we pay this one off 😉)

For all of our stops, there's so much more to talk about and share. We had so many fun experiences, so much good food, a lot more amazing drinks, and were in awe the whole time. Maybe stay tuned for more posts breaking down different aspects of the journey? Definitely stay tuned for some eclipse pictures! I'll get to editing them after I catch up on sleep from the 28 hour journey home.

Europe trip part 4!

Amsterdam was erg goed!

My legs are still so sore from bicycling probably 40+ miles in three days. Because when in Amsterdam, why not! On the bikes we first went on a relaxing 2-3mile round trip to the next small city in order to rent the bikes, then the following day we rode across Amsterdam through the craziness that is their infrastructure to get to the things we had planned!

We started at "The Upside Down", a super cool place with a bunch of optical illusions and things! Most of them are upside down rooms and sets that you can pose in! It's pretty neat, and lex and I certainly will have new profile pics after this

Next was the Heineken Experience, which included my first glass of heinaken. It's beer lol. It was super cool seeing the decommissioned brewery and what's involved in the beer brewing process, especially at that scale. They had some pretty neat visuals too!

After that we rode back home and then decided we wanted some groceries and rode back into town at sunset. It was perfect riding through the fields in the outskirts of town with a beautiful sunset and an even more beautiful woman 💜

The next day we rode out to the next larger city for some food and a couple more snacks. It was windy and we were both quite sore which made life difficult, but we saw a newborn calf and a lot of gorgeous scenery!

We were staying at a little farmhouse just outside of town and I'm not sure if I could've asked for a better stay. And as always, the best part was staying with the wonderful Lexus Schrock I couldn't ask for someone better to do this with 💜💜

Now onto our next stop!

Paris was... très bien. Luckily we got here right after the heatwave. It was still a little warm and humid, but at least 20 farenheit cooler than our first two stops. We also got rained on... Hard... Check the last pictures

There's something magical about exploring the world with you, Lexus Schrock ... Even when we have a long, tough, and/or stressful day, just being with you is all I need. Like when we were cutting it close to making the train from Barcelona and I was frantically creating an account to access the tickets, getting nearly stuck at Disneyland, or when only one of us could get through the Paris Metro at a time because of reasons... Being able to explore with you is so wonderful.

While in Paris we of course had to grab some fresh croissants (which were so flakey and buttery and amazing), and then headed to Disneyland Paris (Formerly EuroDisney)! Overall it's not too dissimilar from Disneyland/DCA in Anaheim, but overall the rides are a bit more exciting. Not to spoil too much, but there are three rollercoasters with inversions/loops (whereas the Increadicoaster is the only one in Anaheim). They also have an entire area based on frozen which my mom would love.

The next day we went on a cruise through the Saint-Martin canal to the Saine river. It was wonderful seeing the romantic little bridges, and going through the locks/tunnel of the canal. Once we got on the Saine we passed on the other side of Notre Dame, passed by the Louver, and finally made it to the Eifel tower. Despite what I've heard most people say, it's actually a lot bigger than I expected in person.

And, while in the city of love, with the backdrop of the tower, I only had one question for Lex ❤️

And then, to remind us of what region we're visiting from, we got caught in a rain storm coming back from the cruise... And after we finally made it back to the hotel and settled it subsided (after waiting for a while for it to maybe die down).

Now to the next adventure, the next city, and a new chapter of us 🥰

I love you so much dear!

Barcelona was muy Bien. We stayed in the Gothic Quarter, and the narrow twisting streets were very welcoming and gorgeous. Once we got out into the "new" city with the perfect grids the city lost some of its charm. It's still gorgeous, but not as much.

We went on two fantastic walking tours, one about the old town we were staying in, and one about Gaudi (the architect for the Sagrada Familia). Both were presented with such passion for the town and provided amazing insight into the reason behind everything we saw.

And of course we tried all the food and drinks. The standouts for me was a Catalan style chicken which just fell right off the bone, and a frozen strawberry sangria. Muy delicioso.

But again, the best part of the trip was spending it with my love Lexus Schrock 💜 the joy, excitement, and sense of wonder we got to share is unrivaled. And I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Stay tuned for the next stop!

Europe trip leg 1: Mallorca

Started the trip off with a bang - Lex's first total eclipse and my third! Right at sunset. It was beyond phenomenal to be able to experience this with the person I love most.

The next day we wandered around the "Caves of the Dragon" which were so much bigger than I had imagined inside. We got to experience a magical classical concert on a lake within the cave as the orchestra played on a boat with all the light for the room. Then, after a wonderful tradition we'd like to start implementing more - a siesta - we explored Palma itself to see what wonders it had in store. Now we're about to board a ferry to our next destination!

Also the food and drinks have been breathtaking! From trying my first paella, getting a pitcher of sangria on the beach, or some super fancy burgers, everything has been delectable.

I can't wait to see what the next stop has in store for us, Lexus Schrock, and I couldn't imagine doing this with anyone else ❤️

Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth—but somehow it’s even better when I’m there with you.

This weekend was everything: wandering through all the sights, reliving the classics, chasing the thrill rides (or at least attempting to), and making it our mission to try as much food as possible.

Still laughing that one of the biggest highlights ended up being baked potatoes—one loaded, one pizza-style—and both absolutely worth it. And that pineapple limeade with a watermelon popsicle? I’m going to be thinking about that for a while. Getting to share Napa Rose with you made it all feel a little extra special, too.

I’m sorry your back had to battle the Matterhorn—but I hope Big Thunder made up for it now that it’s finally open again.

I love you so much. Whether we’re off on little adventures like this or just curled up at home doing nothing at all, you’re my favorite part of it every time. I can’t wait for all the memories we haven’t made yet. ❤️

I love you

Happiest of birthdays to Lexus, the best partner a guy could ask for. I am so thankful you chose me as the lucky guy who gets to go through life with you. To go on late night strolls, random adventures, hikes, or staying in with a TV show or video game.

This week was a week to celebrate you and how much you have blessed my life.

I am so glad we got to share so many experiences together, and got to spend time with both of our families. I couldn't ask for a better, or more relaxing week with you.

Seattle was amazing, and I loved walking around and exploring the city and all the food and drinks it has to offer.

I look forward to many, many more with you. I hope to spoil you more and more each time as well. I love you
