Mark Metternich is a professional landscape photographer who has spent most of his time living mobile on the road. Mark's great passion for fine art landscape comes through in his work and has attracted a wide audience around the world, has been widely published and has won various awards. Mark has spent as much as 300 days a year leading a unique brand of adventure photo tours across the western

US and abroad. His also produces post processing training videos, teaches post processing (via Skype online screen sharing) is a freelance contributor to a number of photography publications. When Mark is not on location shooting he produces post processing / print work for a wide variety of fine art clients as well as travels for public speaking and teaching engagements. Mark has become a legendary digital imaging specialist and master gallery print maker who loves teaching as much as he enjoys producing fine art. “Swell Riders” (Not Generative AI).

2026-2027 Florida Dreamscapes Workshops on my website!

Shooting side-by-side my private client, I was teaching him how to know what is in your composition without looking through your camera (or LCD)! Allowing him to better see and anticipate what’s going. The more challenging part is choosing a best shutter speed (usually between 0.5sec and maybe as fast as 1/60th) and then moving/panning/tracking the camera at the same speed as the main subject matter in the photo, shooting in continuous mode (2-6fps).

Out of 1640 images, this one stood out to me as a favorite to post to social media.

My client was so happy with the workshop, and training, I got a surprisingly hefty tip and he booked another private workshop with me again for November! 😊🙏🏼🌊 Yay! Fun to serve others!

*Not Generative AI. Taken side by side my client on my “Florida Dreamscapes” Private Workshop about a week ago. I love my job! I shot it with the Laowa 9mm lens (world’s widest rectilinear/corrected lens for full frame cameras at a whopping 135° angle of view!) that was given to me as a GIFT from a great client/friend. Camera was the Leica SL2 (yet ANOTHER GIFT from another great client/friend”! The lens is my favorite ever, and does not come off the camera much.
I hope everyone is doing well, and getting out experiencing the wilds of nature/creation! 🙏

A one hour exposure on my Ultimate White Pocket and Southwest Workshop. Yes, one hour! The great light before during and the blue light all in one exposure! My Clients said he didn’t need me so I just sat there and let my camera click back to back to back for an hour, while I still helped them.
