I get asked a lot, “What do you do in your spare time?”
I mean… I’m always creating something- cooking, painting, sewing, Halloween costumes and then there are the random projects that take over the garage.
Apparently, I can add building a huge-ass cork mosaic of Anthony Bourdain🍷
Keep in mind, I am 6ft tall so you can understand the size of this thing.
I’ve always been a photographer. But I spent over 20 years in the restaurant industry, and that world never really left me. It just shows up differently now.
It shaped how I see everything- why I shoot food the way I do and why I care so much about the people behind it.
Bourdain was one of the only voices that ever felt real about it ✨
This piece is made from roughly 5,000 corks collected over years behind the bar and it wouldn’t exist without the bartenders I worked with at Houston's who saved corks for me mid-shift, night after night for years. Years later, I finally figured out what to do with them.
(I have enough corks to make at least two more of these… which feels slightly unhinged.)
So this isn’t just mine. It carries a lot of people and a lot of years in it. You know who you are ❤️
“If anything is good for pounding humility into you permanently, it's the restaurant business.”

Thanks to the thousands of wine pours of the following we went through like water at the Houston's bar that made up the majority of this piece:
