What started as a simple walk down the coastline quickly became something far more unforgettable.

Jara thought she and Josh could quickly use a beautiful setup arranged for another couple who would be arriving later for a quick photo op. Waiting for them was a breathtaking scene thoughtfully designed by Lisa Makaneole and her incredible team: a romantic landing spot framed with lush foliage, soft natural textures, and a stunning flower circle handcrafted by Arlene & son at Blue Orchid. Every detail felt intentional, elegant, and almost dreamlike.

The plan seemed simple enough. Josh and Jara would pose for a few quick photos before the “real couple” arrived.

But little did Jara know… they were the real couple all along.

As the two stepped into the floral circle surrounded by the beauty of the landscape, the atmosphere shifted from playful to deeply emotional. In a moment she never saw coming, Josh turned what she believed was just another adventure together into one of the most important moments of their lives.

What followed over the next hour was pure magic.

There were tears, laughter, disbelief, and the kind of joy that radiates through every photograph. The carefully curated setting became more than just a backdrop, it became part of their story.

From the quiet anticipation leading up to the proposal to the celebration that followed, every moment reflected who Josh and Jara are together: adventurous, genuine, and deeply connected.

This wasn’t just a walk.

It was the beginning of forever.

A courthouse “I do,” a spontaneous trip to Kauai, and a tropical storm rolling in. Everything aligned for this moment. The elements came together to create a moody, cinematic session full of drama and atmosphere.

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage… or so the ancient nursery rhyme prophets foretold. In reality, sometimes it’s love → Netflix → chaos → maybe a wedding → surprise paperwork → and then a baby. Life’s flexible like that. But regardless of the order, creating a whole new human — a tiny roommate who doesn’t pay rent, steals sleep, and produces suspicious smells — is still the greatest privilege the universe hands out. It’s also the only job where messing up means everyone suffers: parents, friends, neighbors, the barista who has to deal with your stroller blocking the line… all of them.
And on that delightful note: Neha & Sagar are having a baby! Here are a few of the many from our Kauai maternity photo session at Baby Beach.
Prepare yourselves. Your tiny overlord will arrive sooner than you think. Life will be forever changed and you will grow as people because of it; adding a giant notch to the belt of experiences in this thing we call life.

I can't believe it's already been 5 years since publishing "SUPERSTITIOUS- a collection of thoughts & photographs". Time flies in the upside down time warp of this thing we call life. There are still some copies collecting dust on the book shelves here on Kauai. The tropics aren't kind to art so I'm dropping the price and sending out a discount code to make up for lack of perfection. This was a ONE TIME RUN. I won't be publishing this again. Once they're gone, they're gone, so come and get 'em. Below is the link to get your hands on one. Be sure to use the code WANDERMORE to get a discount on it and any other The Craft of Wandering products you choose to check out with.

Big MAHALO to all that got their copy early on and help keep things afloat during the curse of 2020. Tell your friends, gift some, decorate your coffee table, start a conversation, open your mind and delight your eyes.

Cheers & Thanks for the support!

I'm honored to have been doing the Huddlestons family photos at different locations around the island for quite a few years now. It's always amazing to catch up, shoot photos (lots of action shots with the boys), see how the family has grown and talk story at the end. Play is crucial on these shoots. If parents play along the children will smile. This is a perfect example of an action packed shoot where the parents joined in on the fun and let kids be kids resulting in genuine moments.

Sometimes families walk away from shoots thinking there was no way we got any good photos and sometimes, in my opinion, those shoots get the best results.
