On Giving Tuesday I just want to talk about an organization that has a deep place in my heart. This might get long y'all!
Building Hope Today helps victims of childhood sexual abuse become survivors. Their focus is helping train law enforcement officers and prosecuting attorneys on how to handle sexual abuse cases to make sure that maximum justice can be delivered. Getting justice is so very important to helping victims feel more like survivors and helping them move on from the trauma that they have endured.
I know this first hand, as I was never really given justice for the awful things that were done to me when I was a child. Knowing that my abuser is still out there free to hurt other kids is traumatizing in its own way. It makes me mad, and disgusted. I get angry when I think that he never served anytime for all the things he stole from me. I wish that the people handling my case way back then would have had this training. It's not their fault, they just didn't know. And so many people don't know, and that's where Building Hope Today comes in.

Not only do they train legal teams to help fight predators, but they also have free resources to help train families on how to better protect their children. Their Parent Pack is an amazing resource on how and when to address issues like consent, privacy, and correct language for anatomy (and why that's important). Every dollar that is donated can help put these guides into the hands of families.

Also a huge shout out to the JRM Foundation for all their support to this organization. With out them and their Home Town Hero program I might not have ever found Building Hope Today. Fahim Rahim you have effected change in so many lives, mine included. Thank you for all you do!
If you can, find a way to give today. Building Hope Today gives its heart and soul to the battle against childhood sexual abuse. But, like most non-profits, it needs your help to keep going.
