Every now and then I’m pulled from the flow of shooting weddings and what we “normally” do in a wedding day and I’m humbled by the weight of this job that we’re entrusted with.
This was a day that I was sensitive to. I knew the weight of these photos going into it and while intentionality is always present on wedding days, being in the moment was a non-negotiable.
I was lucky enough to spend this intimate wedding day with K + G photographing for NYC & Philadelphia documentary wedding photo/video 🇺🇦 and to be invited in to their story was a gift. I was informed that G’s mom was unfortunately very sick and I made mental note to capture her spirit throughout this day.
As you scroll through, you’ll see their beautiful day in K’s mom’s gorgeous backyard with their closest people. The gorgeous greens, florals, K’s unique dress… but when you get to the last image, you’ll be reminded why we do this job and why you can’t place a price tag on tangible memories.
The last photo is special. It looks like a first kiss and it is. We see hundreds, so what is so special you ask? That photo was intentionally taken with G’s mom in the corner cheering them on as they became husband + wife. She has since made a new “best seat in the house” in heaven, but to them, she will always live in this photo, in this moment cheering them on.
and THAT is the humble reality of this job. Creating tangible memories for people to hold on to for their lives. K + G, it was an honor to capture this day for you, to fear for our lives in the back of G’s dad’s subaru while we weaved Philadelphia traffic, to dance among you and your closest people and to share this space with your sweet mama.
Thank you to NYC & Philadelphia documentary wedding photo/video 🇺🇦 for having me to associate this one. It was super special.
