After a crazy busy year, I have been doing a TON of thinking and after MANY long discussions with the hubs, I have decided to leave the photography business. With 3 little ones of my own, 1 who is home full time and will be for 2 more years, the business is just interfering too much with home life. It was a VERY stressful year for me and my entire family, and I missed out on alot of family activities that I have never missed out on before. It's been so great working with all of the clients but I have realized that time is flying by, my kids are going to be this age for a blink, and I have the whole rest of my life to work! I want to enjoy my little ones while they still like being around me!! LOL! And when I do reenter the workforce, I want a career where I go to work, put in my time during the day, and when I come home, that time is mine! It's really hard always having the burden of images to edit. As a photographer, you are NEVER finished!
Fortunately, we are SO lucky and my husband has an amazing career and a salary that allows me to stay home. I never started photography with the aspirations of becoming a famous, high-paid photographer. It was my personal hobby and the business-end of this just kind of fell into my lap. This year, it kind of lost it's fun for me. And the money that I made was just kind of "mad money" and honestly, simply wasn't enough to justify the crazy amount of work that went into the sessions.
It has been so wonderful meeting all of you and getting to watch your little ones grow and change over time. I will definitely miss all of you and getting to see them regularly. I would love it if we could keep in touch over FB and hope you guys keep posting those pics so I still get to see them!
These days, it seems there is a photographer "on every corner" so I know you will all easily find another great person to take my place! Thanks so much for the opportunity to photograph your families. It really was a great honor! Best wishes for a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year!
Always,
Nikki
