Happy Birthday! 14 & 9. The boys' birthday was two weeks ago, but I didn't get time to edit the pictures.

When we found out Ryan’s due date was around Landon‘s birthday. We secretly hoped they might share the birthday, but we knew the odds were slim. Guess what? Against all expectations, it was like hitting the jackpot - we ended up with “twins” separated by five years. On the morning of Landon’s 5th birthday, we dashed to the hospital, and just 45 minutes after our arrival, Ryan made his grand entrance into the world. Landon shared with everybody at school that he got his brother for his birthday. That was the sweetest thing ever!

We make it a tradition to take family photos on their birthday every year. Ryan is at the age where he gets to choose his expression for the picture. This year, he decided not to smile. Meanwhile, Landon has outgrown that phase and is more cooperative. Most of the time, we just snapshot the stage of their lives they’re in. Scrolling through our photos. They always bring us smiles and mixed feelings about how fast time has gone by!

Yawen and her husband were among the first families we got to know when we moved back to Albuquerque from Italy in 2012. They relocated to Texas in 2015, and we hadn't seen each other until last summer due to the busyness of raising our respective families. Yawen is the kind of friend who doesn't require constant maintenance; she's always there when you need her. I'm grateful that we made the effort to visit her and her family. Michael was 8 years old, and we met him for the first time. He is incredibly energetic, and both of us were uncertain about what to expect from our session. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the results. I managed to capture many of the boys' unique features and several excellent shots for the wall art in her new home. Yawen, I hope we can make a habit of seeing each other more often.

Christina is my former coworker. We had her family photos taken just two days before they moved out of state. The atmosphere was filled with a mix of sentimentality and excitement. While the girls had their farewell party at school and the clothes were packed, there was a bit of reluctance towards their mom's outfit choices. However, amidst all this, we were fortunate to have the stunning backdrop of fall colors that perfectly complemented their outfits. During the session, what struck me most was the undeniable bond this family shares. As the Chinese saying goes, " When a family lives together for a long time, they start to resemble each other more and more." It was truly heartwarming to witness and capture their strong connection. I feel incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to preserve their memories as they embark on their new journey. I miss you, Christina!
