One of my favorite parts of this Western Pin-Up Calendar Project has been taking inspiration from vintage artwork and reimagining it with real women, real personalities, and a little western flair.

Meet Molly, bringing this classic cowgirl-inspired concept to life. From the fringe shirt and cowboy boots to the carefully chosen props, every detail was selected to capture the charm and nostalgia of the original artwork while making it uniquely her own.

Seeing these concepts move from inspiration image, to planning, to photoshoot, and finally to finished artwork has been incredibly rewarding.

Molly will be featured in the 2027 Western Pin-Up Calendar, with proceeds benefiting Dreaming of Three and Breakaway from Cancer.

Would you love to do an entire calendar of yourself in these vintage calendar options for your hubby, boyfriend or significant other for a gift?

One of the things I love most about dog portrait sessions is creating a collection of images that tells the complete story of a dog.

This handsome Boykin Spaniel, Karn, was photographed during the J.Klein Photos dog photography workshop this weekend, and these four images perfectly demonstrate the variety that can be created during a single session. We have the classic portrait that showcases his beautiful coat and expression, the connection between dog and handler, the excitement of doing what he loves most, retrieving in the water, and a quiet environmental portrait that places him in a setting that feels true to who he is.

When planning a session, I always encourage clients to think beyond a single "smile at the camera" image. What does your dog love to do? Where are they happiest? What activities do you enjoy together? By incorporating those elements, we create artwork that not only shows what your dog looked like but also captures their personality, passions, and the life you shared together.

Years from now, those details are often what mean the most. ❤️

The perfect photograph rarely comes from standing in the easiest spot.

This weekend, that meant putting on waders, stepping into a lake, and getting a little wet while photographing a retrieving dog in action. While it may look a little funny seeing a group of photographers sitting in the water with cameras in hand, it's a reminder that creating great images often requires going the extra mile, or in this case, a few extra steps into the lake.

One of the things I love most about workshops and continuing education is learning from others who are just as passionate about their craft. We all share the same goal: finding the best light, the best angle, and the best perspective to create images that tell a story.

Because sometimes the difference between a good photo and a great one is simply being willing to sit where others won't. 🐾📷💦

To any of my Barn Hunt folks who place orders today through Sunday, please note that I will not have access to the images while I am away and traveling.

If you place an order during that time, I will get your digitals edited and delivered as soon as I return home Monday evening.

Thank you all so much for your patience and support. I truly appreciate it!

There’s something incredibly timeless about seeing a portrait transformed into a work of art.

I’m excited to begin offering these luxury, museum-quality painted canvases through Guild Canvas — designed for those images that deserve more than simply living on a screen.

So… what is a painted portrait?

One of Guild Canvas’ skilled artists meticulously enhances your image by hand-painting individual brushstrokes over your portrait. The process softens fine details, enriches texture, and creates the feel of a traditional painted masterpiece, while still preserving the emotion, connection, and likeness captured in the original photograph.

These pieces are created to become heirlooms… artwork meant to hang on your walls for generations, telling the story of the horses, pets, and people you love most.

I cannot wait to start creating these for my clients. ✨

Somewhere between the mountains, the dust, and the quiet rhythm of the herd, there’s a story that feels older than time itself. Not staged. Not rushed. Just a cowboy, his horse, and the kind of freedom that still exists far from highways and noise. These are the moments that remind me why Western imagery pulls at my heart so deeply.

Sunlight, denim, white gloves, and a little bit of vintage Americana charm. ✨

Emily stepped straight out of another era for her feature in the Western Pin Up – A Nostalgic Calendar Project, and seeing these pages finally starting to come to life has me so excited for what’s ahead. From the styling to the soft vintage tones, every session has its own personality while still tying into the timeless western story I envisioned for this calendar.

This project has become so much more than creating pretty photos. It’s about storytelling, nostalgia, strong women, western roots, and creating something that feels like it could’ve been hanging in an old country store decades ago.

And honestly… seeing the layouts come together makes this dream finally feel real. 🤍

Proceeds from calendar sales will benefit Dreaming of Three and Breakaway from Cancer.

Some gave everything they had so that the rest of us could live free.
This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the brave men and women who never made it home, the heroes whose sacrifice gave us the freedoms we so often take for granted.

As I look at this image of James holding our flag high against the rugged beauty of the American West, I’m reminded that freedom has always come with a price paid by generations before us. Today is not simply about a long weekend or the start of summer. It is about remembrance, gratitude, and honoring those who laid down their lives for this country.

May we never forget the courage, the families left behind, and the legacy carried forward through every waving flag and every quiet moment of reflection.

Today, we remember. 🇺🇸

Senior Saturday ✨

It’s time to show off everything that makes your senior year you. The style, the personality, the confidence, the laughter, the hobbies, the horses, the dogs, the memories, and all the moments in between before life takes you on your next adventure.

Senior sessions with Roam Photos are never about stiff poses or cookie-cutter images. They’re about creating photographs that feel genuine and reflect who you are right now in this season of life. Whether you want wildflowers, downtown vibes, golden sunsets, horses, trucks, sports, or something completely unique to your story, we’ll create a session built around you.

It’s time to show off everything that makes your senior year you. The style, the personality, the confidence, the laughter, the hobbies, the horses, the dogs, the memories, and all the moments in between, before life takes you on your next adventure.

Let’s create images worthy of showing off. 🤍

One of the things I love most about photographing dog sports and events isn’t just the action itself… it’s the connection behind it all.

The smiles after a good run. The quiet moments between handler and dog. The excitement, trust, teamwork, and pride that shine through without a single word being spoken.

I’m always watching for moments like this one. The genuine interactions that tell a bigger story than ribbons or placements ever could. Because years from now, these are often the images that mean the most. The ones that remind you exactly how it felt to be there with your dog. ❤️
