Hello again Faebook Friends. Yesterday's image on my look back on growing up around McKees Rocks featured my memories of the neighborhood store. Today, we are going to take a look at a place where almost evryone who grew up around the Rox ate a spaghetti dinner or attended a wedding, shower or graduation party. Today's feature image is of the Tap Club on McCoy Road. I, of course, attended many various activities there but one of them that I best remember is an annual Christmas Party. I don't remember who sponsored it as I was just a young child but I do remember always coming home with a nice toy that Santa handed out.
But how many of you remember that the Tap Club was part of an entertainment activity and challenge??? Well, back in the 50's, there were not a lot of organized summer activities for teenage boys so the older boys in Norwood would see how many times they could thumb a ride from the corner by the Norwood School to the Tap Club - then another ride back to Norwood. It never did become an Olympic event but I guess it kept them busy. Times have changed. I suppose I remember that because on the return trip, they would get out of the car at the stop sign just in front of my house. Just another part of my Norwood memories
