It took a while to find the words to describe this place that we explored on day 8. This particular concentration camp was the blueprint for the N**i camps throughout WWII. It housed people the Germans thought to be a threat to the growth of German society and just beyond the fences were backyards of families complicit in the reign of terror. I came away with a new found sense of responsibility to stand up for those on the outskirts of society. There was a quote on one of the prison was that stuck with me to this day. "They came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up." @ Dachau concentration camp

Day 7. We spent a long day traveling from France on a bus across the border into Germany and arrived in Munich. As we were getting close to the bus station, I spotted Augustiner - Keller Biergarten. After dropping our bags off at the hotel around the block, we walked back what would become a highlight of our trip. One thing that is important to note, is that the litre size, is the STANDARD amount of beer. Anything smaller isn’t normal. So we did as the Germans do, and sat at a table drinking our excessively large beers. There was one other American there, who the waiter sat at our table. We talked for hours, and had a couple of litres, and split a cab over to Hacker-Pshorr with our new friend. I don’t have many pictures of this day, but these three photos should give you a good idea of how this evening was spent for the first night in Germany. The beer was delicious, and the experience will be with us forever. @ Munich, Germany

Day 6. Took the train to Colmar for our final stop in France. This was a very walkable city, and a nice break from the busy roads in Paris. When we arrived our wives wanted to shop and we wanted to drink beer and walk around the city. Little did I know this would be an incredible place to grab some photos. It felt like around every single corner was an incredible display of color and architecture. Our Airbnb experience in this city was the most we felt like foreigners as we spoke barely any French and he spoke no English. We finally figured out that we could type into google translate and pass the phone back and forth to communicate. This was by far my favorite place to visit in France. @ Colmar

Day 5. Spent the entire day exploring Paris. We hit all of the hot spots and our feet were killing us by the end of it. It went past in a blur, but luckily grabbed some photos to remember this insanely busy day. By the end of the day my allergies were killing me so I ventured into a pharmacy to see if I could locate some antihistamine. I looked everywhere and my attempts to speak French were met with glaring faces, but eventually I was pointed in the right direction and we were on our way. @ Paris, France

Day 4. Caught a flight from the south of London on a prop plane to Caen, France along the beaches of Normandy. When we landed, we only had British pounds and no euros. Thinking this would be an airport with an ATM, we arrived with zero cash. Unfortunately, all of the taxis and busses into the city only took cash. After a couple hours at the airport, we finally arranged for a taxi to pick us up using our credit card. We explored the museums and streets in this small town, and fell asleep to the sounds of people gathered at bars watching the French National team play in the euros. I was watching on my phone from the bed, but with the window open, every goal was met with the shouts of what seemed to be every person in the city watching at the same time. @ Caen, France

Day 3. Wandered around London to visit some of the iconic sites we had missed on day 1 including Buckingham palace. Had some mid afternoon coffee at our favorite coffee shop, and closed the evening out drinking local beer at a proper English pub. @ London

Day two. Took a day trip to Oxford. This was a great break from the hustle and bustle of London. As we exited the train, we walked past the old Oxford castle tower, and into the city. It is a very walkable city, with old gates and buildings surrounding the 900 year old campus. We finished at the favorite pub of CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien where the inkings would gather and discuss their ideas for books. There was an incredible energy there, as I grabbed a beer from the same taps these profound writers drank from years ago. @ Oxford, England - UK

Starting a new series of photos from a trip to Europe in the summer of 2016. This quarantine is hard on everyone. Hopefully this helps provide some hope and excitement for future travel adventures.

Day 1. We arrived around 8:00 am London time, and had some time to kill before we could check into our hotel. I was the only one who didn’t sleep on the flight out of pure excitement and somehow I was the least tired of the group. We grabbed some pizza, a pint, and hit Oxford Circus. Then we ventured towards Westminster for some classic London photos before finally hitting the bed.
