Lately, I have been doing a lot of re-evaluating & re-configuring as we head into 2023. I've been looking at my businesses (just in case you aren't familiar: I run a wedding photography business, this video business, AND I play a very large role in Derrick's business as well) - and anyways, I've been looking at what I'm doing and am making some big changes.

And most of the big changes have to do with this business.

Abbey Family Documentaries is going into a kind of “hibernation” mode. I'm not closing it's doors for good (after all, I will never stop creating films for my own family!) but I am going to stop attempting to propel it forward.

I have been working hard on this business for over 18 months and while it's been a lot of fun (and I've created a lot of beautiful [free] films), I am just sensing that it's time to put it on hold. I still have a full time wedding photography business to run and there are more and more opportunities with Derrick's business that I want to help him with.

So, with that being said - maybe AFD will come back in the future - but maybe not! It was something I set out to try and it didn't exactly go the way I had hoped.
But that's okay!

I am SO PROUD of what I accomplished, what I shared, what I created, and what I did. The outcome wasn't what I was wanting, but that's just life! Not everything works out the way we plan and that's okay. I am still really happy with what I did and what I learned along the way.

I will still be creating films for my own family (I will never give that up - it is way too precious to me!) so I invite you to follow along over on my YouTube channel and my personal Instagram account.

Maybe one day, in a different season of life, Abbey Family Documentaries will come back. But for now, this is goodbye!

What's stopping you from getting off your couch and going out and DOING something?

Maybe it's planting a garden
Maybe it's starting a business
Maybe it's exercising
Maybe it's finding a better job
Maybe it's riding a roller coaster
Maybe it's reaching out to an old friend

Sure, there might be other things keeping you on the couch right now, but I bet under all of your excuses is a thin layer of fear that you might not even realize is there.

Do you ever take cute home movies of your life and then realize: what is going to happen to those files?

Well.. our Easter weekend isn’t going quite as planned (do things ever go as planned?)
So, I just did a quick Target pickup order (thank the Lord for Target) for a few little things to help make tomorrow fun & memorable, since we won’t be leaving the house (thanks to everyone coming down with colds & coughs- ick)

Who wants to guess what my kids are doing in this photo?.
Okay I’ll tell you:
They’re watching our home videos on YouTube (that’s where I host our completed films for super easy access!)

A few things to note:
•See the smiles on their faces? They LOVE watching themselves on TV!
•They snuggled up together all by themselves (they NEVER watch TV so close)
•Showing them happy memories on our TV reinforces to these two munchkins how important they are, how loved they are, and how cherished the little things they do are.
After all, it’s the little silly things they do on a daily basis that are so easily forgotten, that I never want to forget.

7 is such a fascinating age.
Braelynn turned 7 years old six weeks ago & it’s like we’ve entered a whole new world.
She’s suddenly more independent.
She’s grown like 2” (as evidenced by her pants suddenly being too short).
She’s thinking more critically.
She wants to help & be involved more than ever.
She’s suddenly capable of MORE.
It’s so fun & exciting - and yet bittersweet at the same time! She’s growing up so fast!

It makes the photos & videos I took of her just last year suddenly seem like that was a completely different person.
And it makes me want to take ALL the photos & videos of her TODAY, because I know she’ll change even more by tomorrow.
