A story shaped by laughter, faith, late nights, golden light, and a city that showed up with its whole heart. From stolen glances at dawn to vows held high above the skyline, every moment felt grounded, joyful, and deeply ours.

Patrick and Arlan met when they were both college professors, tasked with teaching their students the applicable curriculum of a given semester. Little did they know they would acquire some valuable knowledge about each other over the course of time. A romance blossomed and came into full bloom at The James Gallery in Pittsburgh’s West End, host to the event. An awesome family picture was the best exhibit on display at this gala. Arlan, now a book shop owner, sported a Cheshire-cat grin the entire day. After the festivities, guests escorted the couple out into the night, under a bridge of hand-held sparklers. A guitar-playing duo joined them and provided a serenade as they walked to The Point for some private moments. These two personify the old adage that you can learn something new every day.

On this chilly day at PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, no game was played. Instead, Mark and Jamie formed their own team and brought along a few of their fans to cheer them on. After a grand ceremony at Heinz Chapel, it was time to play ball. The home of The Bucs morphed into a reception gala inside the park’s Lexus Club Lounge, a beautifully crafted structure within the confines of what is generally regarded as the finest baseball park in America. Included in the themed event was a tour of the field and dugout. I couldn’t stop looking at the wedding cake that sat on a stack of baseballs. Guests received individualized popcorn bags, and Rick, the famous Pirates Lexus Club vendor, passed out smiley cookies. The Pirate’s ownership got it right when they told the City of Pittsburgh if you build it, they will come.

St. Paul’s Cathedral stands as the Catholic Diocese in Pittsburgh. An architectural gem, its doors are open to the public. The photo above is from a ceremony where the ring barrier struggled with his outfit but rallied in the early afternoon, delivering the rings on time and taking his proper place with his aunt and her groom. Children are always a welcomed sight at any wedding as they add a dimension of wonder and curiosity that comes with new experiences

Sonia and Tyler chose the Memorial Day weekend to solidify their union. Talking to Sonia before the wedding, she was a bit nervous but excited for the day. Her family had traveled from New Hampshire, and she was delighted to see them again. Her dad was so excited, he left his suit up north. No worries though, as he purchased another one as soon as he arrived and it fit like a glove. You can really tell Sonia wanted to see Tyler happy. When you walk into their home, there is an American flag with the thirteen original colonies that Sonia gifted Tyler as a present! It only took a few minutes of conversation to find out that this was the perfect gift because Tyler loves history. He served in the Navy and is currently serving in the National Guard. Although Tyler has always felt a duty to serve his country, his lifelong loyalty lies with Sonia, his forever partner. Such a connection could be felt in their vows, each person providing five things they loved about the other. You could see it in their smiles as they walked downtown on their way to dinner. A perfect evening indeed. Thanks, Sonia and Tyler, I really enjoyed our afternoon together and feel lucky to have had the chance to meet your family. Take care and all the best.
