Happy Labor Day

This one is a throwback to 2024, but it’s probably one of my favorite photos of mine, so Labor Day seems like a good time to repost even though I have a lot of new stuff to get to.

Hail to Pitt!

A nice win today to begin the season. This photo is a throwback to 2021 when the various parks were lit up including the Mary Schenley Memorial Fountain seen here , with the Cathedral Victory lights on in the background.

The former Cooey Bentz furniture store

From ahat I read, this was the place to see Santa during Christmastime for decades. The store closed in 2002.

A few photos of the Ohio County Mine in Benwood West Virginia.

Benwood was the site of the third worst mine disaster in West Virginia history. In April 1924, closer to the old Wheeling steel Mill, an explosion killed 119 miners.

A train traveling to the Hershey plant with my film camera. I took a digital version as I caught the front of the train, but I haven't looked at those yet. This was my second trip to Hershey Park, but really the first time I took any non family photos.

On a related note, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Milton Hershey movie when it comes out. I made a trip to Brownsville recently where the vacant storefront are all still decorated from the filming of the movie there.

If you like photos of Hershey / Hershey Park I recommend John Martin Photography as I enjoy his photos of the area.

A bonus minimalist Hershey kiss lamppost photo in comments.

St Alphonsus in Wheeling. I've said it in a post a little while back, but I was really happy with my photos of Wheeling and surrounding towns this year. I still have a lot more to get through.
