A few weeks ago while we were yet in February, we were outside in short sleeves, and it very much felt like spring. Now, here we are in the middle of March, and much to our surprise winter was holding out for one last hoorah. I can't complain though, snowstorm Stella brought 2 very welcomed snow days where my husband got to stay home from work, and our newly 2 year old boy got to have an epic first sledding experience! We only snapped a few pictures, because we were too busy enjoying the moment. These few unexpected days turned out to be the highlight of my winter! The best part about parenthood, is getting to be a kid again!

Silver linings, sometimes they are one good photo.

This morning was a particularly rough morning with my son, who isn't due to turn 2 for another 2 weeks, but his emotions and will have been screaming, "I'm already there, Mom!" for the past month, and it's hard for this mom to come to terms with the fact that her baby is no longer a baby.

Years from now, when I look back at this photo, I won't remember the 5 breakfast choices he rejected, and the 2 smoothies he threw on the ground, cracking his cup and spilling a fruity, yogurty, sticky mess all over the floor for me to clean up, while he screamed in protest. I won't remember the exasperation and failure I felt this morning, but what I'll see is the sun shining down on my beautiful boy's face, his gloriously pudgy cheeks and pierced lips, and I'll feel the joy and intent in his clap. I will only see the good, only the beauty, and I may even get choked up, as I am now, and wonder once again, how on earth did I get this lucky, to receive such a gift?
