This precious family welcomed sweet little Noah and I know 2 big brothers that love their new brother! Can you tell which one is already wrapped around those tiny fingers?? 🥰

At home newborn sessions have my heart! I may look like I'm moving in when I show up, but, honestly, it makes things so much easier. Obviously, no chance of forgetting to bring a prop, bottle, paci, stuffy, or any other essentials. Baby is familiar with the smells and the sounds, so in my opinion, it's easier to soothe baby when he/she gets fussy. You can send siblings to play, watch tv, or check cows when the family portion is finished. At home may not be an option for everyone, and that's okay, but I will always recommend if possible!

And, no - I do not care if your house isn't spotless, if the dishes aren't done, if there are toys everywhere, or if you have nosey furbabies 🫶

VULNERABLE POST

I ugly cried today - in front of clients. Everything looked and worked great last night. Fast forward to this afternoon and a corner of the plastic and the lights had fallen. No big deal. Taped the plastic back up, set the lights back up, and we got to work. 3 minutes in - CRASH! Wind blows and the lights fell AGAIN. This happened a couple more times, but I limped through the first session. Mind you, I cried in the midst of that first session, but we made it. Then, I had to call it 5 or 10 minutes into the second. When I walked back inside, my third session was walking in for make-up.

In 10+ years, I've never had to call it and reschedule in the middle of a session day. Honestly, life has felt so heavy lately and the wind playing Wreck It Ralph just sent me over the edge.

I cried. I apologized a gazillion times, but luckily, I had some of the sweetest clients today that were perfectly fine with rescheduling. Do I still feel terrible? 1000%

To my fellow small business owners: It's okay to call it. It's okay to reschedule. It's okay to have a little meltdown.

To customers/clients: this is your reminder to give your small business owners a little grace. We do our best to make everything perfect and to make sure things are going to run smoothly. Unfortunately, there are just some things we can't control.

To the ladies from today: thank you so much for being so laid back and so willing to just make it work! Thank you for the sweet words in the midst of the meltdown and for the messages after you left! It really does mean more that you will ever know 🫶🏻
